Yes, as far as I know this location was chosen because from there the junction between the line to Aberystwyth and the one to Pwllheli. You should find something about this on the signalbox web site, in a page about the Cambrian line and the RETB: MODERNISATION OF THE CAMBRIAN LINES And of course on the extract of the Section Appendix, released by Network Rail under Baseline Declaration, you should be able to find relevant information. You can look at Track and route mileage, Permissible line speeds (but be advised that this pdf file are very huge!) It is in the western file, starting from page 294 And there should something in the Raib report Near miss at Llanbadarn Automatic barrier crossing If I have understood correctly this route is to be re-signalled (or has already been re-signalled) under ERTMS (and I do not know from where it will be controlled.) It is controlled at Machynlleth SCC. ERTMS has not yet been implemented, but all the infrastructure's in place. What;s interesting is that the whole of the coastal Cambrian network is controlled by the one box! Log in to reply |
