First off, so far this is a gr8 sim! I've manged to figure out most of the things so far but am now stuck with one of the trains. The 6z01 is supposed to enter the Barnetby Up Sdgs and I routed it to what I thought was the correct place, Platform 1. Since I couldn't get the train to use the GF after I set it, I shunted it all the way up and tried again, still no luck. I keep getting the message "Awaiting authority to move at Barnetby Up Sdgs GF". I've looked thru the documentation and the forum but haven't found anything that can help me. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Log in to reply |

In the moden version of the sim, Barnetby Up Sidings would have gone. This is a sim error, and it has been reported. 6Z01 should go to the Engineers Siding (in the Down Sidings) - this is a timetable issue, and has been reported as well. Ok. We need to be careful here between what the reported issue is and errors in the sim. in this case they are not the same. It has been reported that the Up Ground frame is no longer in use in the modern era and the TT for 6z01 is incorrect as a result. This will be fixed in the update. However, for now, as the sims stands both the TT and the sim work correctly even its not true to life. So here's what should happen in the sim as it is. 1) 6z01 should arrive at the ground frame and reverse. Note: You may find you may have to set a route past BE7 before the train can reverse. 2) when he does he should call for permission. Don't give it just yet.... 3) release the GF so the release is flashing. 4) Go to the show lever frames menu under view and select Barnetby Up Sidings 5) Manipulate the GF levers to release the GF, release the points and reverse the points 6) answer the phone and give permission The train should then reverse off the sim. At which point you need to reset the levers, and lock the GF again. Log in to reply |

The Up Sidings GF was certainly indicated on the diagram when I visited Barnetby a couple of years ago, and I don't recall the release lever being collared. That might have changed in the meantime, but the current representation as 'in use' in the modern era would appear to be correct to me!

Perhaps not, but that's presumably a fairly recent development? The 'modern' era needs to be able to accommodate movements possible in the not-too-distant past - I'll admit that I don't have a clue when the physical connection was removed, but I'd guess that movements into there were possible at least to the end of the '90s? The presence of a siding connection that no longer exists is surely less of an issue than the lack of a siding connection that should (earlier!) be represented? Tom Log in to reply |

Thanks for the detailed instructions. Still, I'm stuck with a train in this position (posibly because I didn't go exactly according to the instructions  ) and can't figure out what to do with it.Any suggestions? Log in to reply |

In what way is the train 'stuck'? What does F2 show it doing and exactly where is it standing at present (Oh and which train is it? 6Z01?)

Like I wrote in the first message, it's the 6z01 and it's "stuck" trying to enter the Barnetby Up Sdgs (GF). F2 shows the following message: "Awaiting authority to move at Barnetby Up Sdgs GF" I'm close to giving up on this one

Is the phone ringing? If so answer it as he won't move until you say he ca. Did you previously tell the driver to wait when he called in? If you said wait 15 minutes you are just going to have to wait 15 minutes till he calls back in. If you have a saved game and also the log text of your current position that help. Send me a PM with them attached and I will take a look. If the worst comes to the worst, either (a) start a new game or (b) remove the train. Log in to reply |
