I got in a pickle when I sent a train from Doncaster to Worksop. I managed to figure out releasing the signals and routing the line, but I couldn't figure out how to reset the signal to normal. Then I read this thread and I got the message: right click override, wait a couple of minutes, then, when the blinking light is steady, normalise the signals.

So I went about setting to normal the Doncaster > Worksop signals in the aforementioned manner (quite some time after the line was vacated) and immediately was hammered with 1500 penalty points. Why? What did I do wrong?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

You did not carry out the single line block working according to the rules. You need to read the manual.

For the record signals do not have a normal aspect. (Points however can be normal or reversed). The default for any stop signal is the "danger" aspect, any other aspect being referred to as a "proceed" aspect.
Hope this is useful.

basically. when the train has passed through the section, rather than using the overide button (which is an emergency release) the block can be replaced to normal by clicking on the normal button as opposed to overide. best to reread the block instrument section on worksop

Thanks, I had a look at the manual and found the appropriate section. Can't wait to get home to put it in to practice.
