Thanks Michael for your kind words

I had a crack at multiplayer last night, really enjoyed the panel I was assigned on Trent but Bristol I just couldn't handle! It's a bit intimidating playing a simulation with people who know and expect all users to be fluent but I guess it's something I will have to get over.

No-one should expect you to know everything! In fact, multiplayer is the best way to get to grips with a new sim because you only need to worry about one panel and can let everyone else worry about the rest. If you're trying something new, let the host know it's your first time on that sim and ask for an easyish panel (though of course, depending on the particular sim and the timetable that's being run, 'easy' can be a matter of opinion!)

The manuals are a useful reference while you're playing, especially for the newer sims - some have a panel-by-panel breakdown explaining any unusual features on each panel, so you know what to keep an eye out for.

And finally if you want to get some practice in on your own, the smaller sims such as WembleySub and perhaps Southampton are extremely playable by one player, so you can spend some time getting the hang of how everything works before launching yourself back in on Bristol :-)

Welcome to Simsig!
Josie

Hi Mike, i was Pete on both of those sims you tried yesterday. You did fine, just a misunderstanding about how to route stuff. As Josie says, we are all here to help and hopefully your experience hasnt put you off. Feel free to try things on single player and if you break if you can always restart. With multiplayer games, as Josie says, let people know its your first time on that sim and maybe watch at first and then join in on an easy panel.
Good luck and most of all have fun
Pete

Pete and Josie
Thank you for your kind words. I did spend a portion of yesterday going through the help guide and various simulations with no timetable praticising the different route settings and I am all clear with signalling light engines/trains out of depots etc. Josie, I've got a Southampton game running, it's playable for a single player but there is certainly enough going on to keep your wits about you! Pete, thank you for being understanding and I will have another crack at multiplayer soon.
Take care Mike
