I wouldn't normally name specific software that causes problems but this is an exception. There is a piece of software called Software Informer which claims to make downloading and keeping software up to date easy. Yet the software itself leeches from other sites including this one while taking all the credit and income from advertising. There is also speculation that it is malware in disguise and is difficult to remove properly. The reason I mention it is because a kind lady at the company inadvertently told me some of the ways it works when I asked for a particular link to be removed. Other links have since been added and she tells me that this is because one or more SimSig users has the Software Informer installed which feeds information back to their company about what's on your PC, thus propagating its download database from the PCs of unsuspecting users. There is no guarantee that what Software Informer claims is the latest version is indeed the latest version anyway.

Talking generally now, please make sure you only ever download SimSig software from this site. Anything received from "friends" or other websites should not be trusted - it may contain malware, viruses, spyware, or whatever.

Thanks Geoff for the heads-up.

This appears to be another Russian swindle, aka System Informer. A good uninstaller should be able to remove it - it may need to delete registry entries to do this.

I googled my name the other day and found that every piece of software I had installed in my computer was listed there. It was done by something called "software informer." I immediately went yo the site and found that it isn't a good thing and I don't know how I got or where it is but from what I read it uses a lot of CPU's and slows your browser down as well as the over all operation of your PC---have you heard of it and if so can I get rid of it and how----please help---Thank you
