Cancelling route caused by TCF 02/05/2012 at 15:11 #32053

Disclaimer: I'm somewhat new to SimSig.

Referring to the attachment, I cannot work out any mechanism for cancelling or otherwise overriding the route between signals 802 and 516, which is presumably held in place by the track circuit failure just after 802. However, the route does not seem to be associated with 802 (ie. it can't be cancelled from there).
Ideally I'd like to set the points/set a route to allow 1D02 to be routed towards Tallington.
I'd rather avoid having to reverse both trains to New England North Junction, as that would get in the way of a stack of other movements.

Any suggestions, or information would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Jonathan

On Peterborough, there is nothing you can do about it but wait for the Technician to fix the fault.

The newer sims fitted with the Incident Panel can get round this problem by clearing the track circuit, waiting for the route to die, then occupying the track circuit again until the S&T fix the fault.

Be nice if real signallers had that "get out of jail free" card.

You are correct that because the track circuit hasn't cleared, the interlocking assumes that the train is still occupying that section of track. Therefore, it won't clear the section of route ahead of that TC. However, since the track circuit behind signal 802 has been occupied and then been cleared, the interlocking no longer associates the route with signal 802, hence the grey 'stem'.

Nothing you can do but wait for S&T (Signal & Telegraph) to come and fix it. If you're running a Normal difficulty sim, it shouldn't be more than an hour's sim time, although it can vary.

Reversing to New England North is possible, but down to your conscience: in the real world, this would almost certainly not be allowed, and as you say it will get in the way of other movements. Of course, sod's law dictates that as soon as the train gets to New England North, the TCF will be fixed...

They have - Rule Book Module T1A allows for the release of signalling controls in that manner.

The only difference is that when I have done it on multiplayer games, I have done it without waiting the time it would take the S&T to get there.
