Does anyone know why the forum has been exceptionally quiet lately? A few months ago, one hundred posts a day were a common sight, and it often took a long time to read through all the new posts when logging on, but of late the forum has been lucky to get ten posts a day. Log in to reply |

My first thought is that no new/recent sims means that not as much help is required as it is covered in the manuals or has already been covered in the forum - generally when a new one is released the forum goes mad with praise, thanks and the occasional bug report, plus people looking for advice and tips on how best to operate a new sim. Additionally, with the weather being so nice, people perhaps aren't so keen to stay indoors and SimSig! Bring on the cold, dark nights of winter and the place will probably be a bit busier. When I read the title of this thread I thought it was maybe a request for a forum where people are not allowed to talk loudly, use mobile phones or other noisy electronic equipment, and are expected generally to show respect for their fellow passengers.

I think I can shed a little light on why the forum is quiet. There are a fair few users getting the firefox error when they try to visit the forum and to access the forum they have to delete all cookies in windows7. Hence visiting SimSig is a pain because you lose all stored data pertaining to all sites and have to remember all your user names and passwords to get back into your regular sites. This is the reason why I haven't been around and posting and I suspect a fair few others have the same issue. A fix for this issue would be good but I for one haven't got a clue how to fix it except deleting all cookies again and again. As soon as SimSig stores its cookie then I cannot get back into SimSig until all cookies are deleted not just SimSig's cookie. I'm using internet explorer and google chrome and have the same problem with both. my laptop is running windows7. When I had the problem (I now don't ask Safari on my Mac [which has the same problem as Firefox] to remember my SimSig password) I only needed to delete the SimSig cookies, not every cookie on my machine. I don't understand it either. I just reported my own post to the moderators to try and find a fix. Hopefully it will get sorted out because I never had these issues on the old forum or on here in the beginning. something changed and at least two other people I know from another forum (ngauge forum) have had the same problem. Like Matt I've only ever had to delete the SimSig cookies, infact at one time I narrowed it down to a specific cookie, though I forget which one now. In any event it's along time since I've had such an event on my computer now I think about it. As to how to fix I have not the faintest idea where to start so I'm out on that one. I got "locked out" a couple of times. Then, I started leaving the "Remember Me" button UN-checked. It means I have to log-in, everytime I visit but, that is less hassle than re-doing 32 other log-in and passwords after clearing Cookies.

If you're using Firefox, deleting the cookies will NOT "unremember" passwords. I use Firefox permanently and after every update delete the cookies but I don't lose the password. After being knocked around by deleting cookies, my password is still remembered anyway. Just have to click the login button. *-------------------- If in doubt do the following: Click on "Tools|Options" (according to version, open the orange firefox button at top left. Select the "Security" tab and take a hit on the "Saved Password" button. This *should* open a window with all your sites which have remembered passwords. I know this isn't the done thing, but is there any chance of one of the pending sims (Derby maybe?) breaking cover & livening the place up The last lot that appeared were amazing, but it would be really good to have a fresh challenge
