The sticky notes on the Exeter sim permit timetable information to be displayed when clicking on a timetable code in a sticky note. Pleasecan this excellent facility be extended to all sims?

It's been around for a while (can't recall which sim was the first) but it is part of the core code so will be in all sims by default; is in all the current releases. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

goatnatter, I believe that this feature is already part of Southampton and KingX latest too. I've become a strong advocate of Sticky Notes in SimSig after I discovered how useful they are. If I'm playing Cambridge I will often add a red-sticky beside Ely level crossing controls to remind to 'Clear' the crossing, as in actually press the clear button so the signal will clear. I make this sticky look something like this. ========== REMEMBER TO 'CLEAR' CROSSING ========== Also, whilst playing Southampton recently I use white Stickies 'below' the station/beside the station name to remind me when trains leave (I could interpose their departure time beside their headcode but if you've got two trains in the same platform (a common thing on Southampton) you don't really have the space to do so). I arrange these in a suitable order and I make them look like this (as an example); <<<<<<< hhh E'leigh tt:tt <<<<<<< with < or > showing the direction, hhhh being the headcode, the trains direction (i.e: E'leigh, F'ham, B'hurst, Romsey (or R'sey)) tt:tt being departure time and < or > repeated again for the direction. Another idea for what you could do with Stickies is if you have something crossing a level crossing (i.e: at Litlington near Royston on Cambridge sim) you not only cancel the route but you add a red sticky over the tracks that reads something like; ABNORMAL LOAD USING CROSSING and since that is two lines it almost covers both tracks to remind you not to set a route. I look forward to this excellent sticky feature being included in future SimSig simulations as I'm finding it extremely useful! You can put a reminder on AHB and other automated crossings by clicking REM and then the crossing indication lights. The lights will then gain a blue background. REM then right click removes it. The reminder does not prevent you setting a route. That's what the controls on the protecting signals are for. Log in to reply |

Thanks for all your comments. When I tried to put a readable timetable reference into a sticky note on the latest version of the Gloucester Sim it didn't work. This was not because of any problem in the sim but because the timetable reference I used was not valid (idiot). Log in to reply |
