Hello all,

I have submitted my Kings Cross 2012 Weekday TT to be approved, and should be up soon.

This real timetable is based in early/mid-August in the middle of the week, so MO and FO services are not included,

For the purpose of this layout, Kings Cross Goods acts as Platform 0 (I know it's the wrong side of the station) re-platforming was not an option as all 11 platforms can be filled at once! Remember not to send any trains here that are not booked for Platform 0, or they will not appear again!

The olympic loco hauled extras (5Z20/5Z21) are a slight work of fiction returning from Kings Cross, as I do not know when they left Kings Cross, nor do I have full info on the coaching stock used. If you can correct any of the operations, please feel free to let me know.

All workings taken from the NR 2012 WTT available online, and most freight lengths roughly worked out by some YouTube videos.

A BIG thanks goes to Kurt Sicklemore for the assistance in providing this TT, and another BIG thanks goes to Simon Banham, Kurt Sicklemore and Andy Greenland for the assistance in testing this TT.

Music listened to when creating, testing and tweaking this timetable:

- Heart FM (Wiltshire)
- Pink Floyd Live at Earls Court recording 1994
- Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Mood album (played a lot of times actually!)
- Scott Joplin Easy Winners
- SimCity 4 soundtrack (Jerry Martin)
- Steve Hackett Spectral Mornings
- Scientist Evil Curse of the Vampires album
- Coldplay (various tracks)
- Underworld Born Slippy
- Moby (various tracks)

Enjoying this TT - seems a bit busier in the early hours than most.

I'm up to 05:19 and have noted a couple of issues thus far:

- 2W90 / 2F89 clash at KX P9 (2W90 is due arr 01:03 and dep 01:11 but 2F89 is already in P9 with due dep 01:06);

- 5Z24 (ex 5Z00-16)is showing as having no engine.

I think the issue with 5Z24 is the fact its motive power is diesel but its seed (5Z00-16) is OHE. In actual fact the two services have different train types (5Z00-16 is Class 317 whilst 5Z24 is custom).

Hello Javelin395,

Thank you for the feedback, glad you like it so far, it will get out of control in the peak hour on a solo run!!

- 2F89 is booked for P9 in the WTT, 2W90 is an Olympic extra for whatever went on at Ally Pally (I forget what the event was) and, from what I understand, things were re-platformed as 2W90 used P9. I shall alter 2F89 for the next update.

- I've fixed 5Z00-16, I added if after the test and duplicated it from 5Z00-15, that'll be why it shows as a Class 317. I've changed it to 219m 110mph to suit with 5Z24. I'll give it a test before re-release.

It will be re-uploaded soon to fix faults if there is any more reported, and to adjust times to be compatible with North London Line and Peterborough chain sims.

Cheers,

James.

James,

Thanks for the extra info. I adjusted 5Z24 as you said and then restarted the sim. Not yet up to the departure time for this train so I can't say for sure that has fixed it (but no reason why it wouldn't).

I've now got 2W90 clashing with 2C89 in KX P9 instead of the previous 2F89. I'm guessing 2C89 and 2F89 run on an either / or basis to the same basic TT with one terminating at Cambridge and the other at Letchworth. Just letting you know in case you want to re-platform both of them in a future release.

I had wondered if the clash was replicated from the actual WTT as I know some authors go with this 'warts and all' to give the rest of us a few extra headaches.

Looking forward to the rush hour :S

Yes 2C89 runs on some Olympic dates, otherwise 2F89 will run as normal.

Adding the Alexandra Palace ones were a pain as Open TT showed normal services ending up on different platforms, so there were probably some alterations that morning/night.

Any other platform clashes that are in the WTT I will not fix, as I've just compiled it all from the WTT, so in real life KX would have to deal with it anyway. I'm only willing to fix clashes that I have done by accident by forgetting to change the platform number (can be easy to forget if you duplicate a service!)

Peak Hour see's around 52-53 trains in the area from what I re-call, I remember Hornsey depot has a peak hour of it's own when the extras come in to stable in the day!

This TT is enormous fun solo. Up to 0730 and the pinchpoints aren't where you expect them to be, except the usual Hitchin crossing woes ! You need your wits about you to keep that phone quiet.

Well done that author.

Thank you :cheer:

It can be surprising yes, what also surprised me when adding thee trains is how late and early ECS trains run. For the evening peak I remember seeing trains ready to come out at around 3pm, not what I expected, seems to be an all day thing practically!

Also, along with varied freight that may or may not run, there is a couple of test trains too but depends if they run or not!

It is very easy to catch you out as well, even I got caught setting routes over Hitchin junction when locals are booked to wait for expresses, or in some cases like the 1Dxx's they are booked to let a local train cross over.
What surprises me too is that Open Access operators (HT and GC) do not get paths ahead of stoppers through Welwyn North, something I forgot about when I set a Grand Central service to Kings Cross the all clear through Woolmer Green Junction delaying the stopper service...

I've noticed a few of the freight trains have inconsistencies:

4E28 is a DBS 66 throughout (when it runs - this train is seasonal and did not run during the summer).
4E70 is a Freightliner path, which doesn't run.
4L28 is a DBS 66 throughout (when it runs - this train is seasonal and did not run during the summer).
4L88 is a Freightliner path, which doesn't run.
4O92 is a Freightliner path, which doesn't run.
5O44 should be 5X44 as it is hauling a 465 or 2 x 466 units, and alays runs as an X headcode.
6O07 is a Monday only train (departs Doncaster Sunday evening) - it runs as 6O19 the rest of the week.

Also, the following have either never run, or have only run once or twice in 3-4 years or more:
4E27
4E70
4E85
4L88
4O92

I hope that helps.

God bless, Daniel Wilson

5E32 and 5E35 seem to have exactly the same times in the Hornsey area.
"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Cheers for that guys, and Dan for the help with freight!

I don't actually know what freight runs or not to be honest, I might type the odd one in on a Gen group to see what sightings are on it but not all of them.

I've left 5O44 as is, as it did run as 5O44 with two barriers only, booked only rather than actual times ran but for that it's set as a low percentage.

EDIT: Yes 5E32 actually leaves Hornsey reverse siding earlier than I have it listed as, cheers for that Karl

Thats were the skill of the signaller comes in. either by saying that the entering ecs should of waited when he phoned in for permission, or by replatforming one of the services to allow the trains to pass. it won't be a timetable bug.

i like the phone call idea but that is a features wish
like SwinDid to let freights out of Didcot TC

maybe rules will help ECS leaves siding x minutes after
joining portion arrives in platform.

Great timetable, thank you to the creator.

The first major problem I have come across is at around 18.30, where I have train 5C27 and 3C27 wishing to join trains in platform 11 at King's Cross. 5C27 has run into the platform first, as it is timetabled to do so. However, when I attempt to set the route for 3C27 (currently residing in Belle Isle) it comes up with the warning light that the second train is over length and consequently won't allow the route to be set.

Perhaps a recast of the platforms is in order for the next player of the timetable!

As it's rush hour and I don't have time to make both trains run to another platform, I will have to play god and shorten the length of the trains manually.

The train will actually fit, the overlength train indication is a bug (see this thread).

Set the (call-on) route into the platform as usual, and instruct the drier to pass at red, and all should be well.

Yes 5C27 and 3C27 will fit if you pass it at danger, from what I recall, the bug doesn't affect Platform 9, unsure of Platform 10 however.

Providing the train joining is forming 8 cars (In this case, it is 2 x 4 car class 317's, which will fit) then it will work by asking the driver to pass the signal as Andy mentions

I have noticed that quite a few of the afternoon ECS movements from Welwyn Sidings into Platform 4, do not change headcodes upon arrival at WGC, then once Ive changed the headcode, the train does not leave.

5Z46 and 5Z47 were the ones I noticed today

These trains are not in V2 of this TT. Are you referring to 5K46 and 5K47?

If so, both these trains join other trains (2V34 & 2V35) at Welwyn Gardens P4. You need to update the headcodes manually. The trains will not leave until they have joined.

Incidentally, were you playing in a Multiplayer session? If so I think the joining trains were running very late.
