DLR trains dont have drivers! (as far as I'm aware?)

They have 'staff' during the evenings, though I don't think they do more than let the train go, and press stop if there's an issue.

They basically use a trains simulator (a computer,) however im not sure about the controls.

Paragraphs 29 to 37 of this RAIB report give a summary of staffing and operation of the DLR (this was in 2008 though).

"Don't stress/ relax/ let life roll off your backs./ Except for death and paying taxes/ everything in life.../ is only for now." (Avenue Q)

Why would they use a simulator to drive a real train?

DLR staff can drive the trains when necessary - and, in fact, have to within depot areas I believe.

I was sitting in the front seat of a DLR train once when the staff member on board came and stood next to me to drive manually for a bit. It was quite interesting to see the controls - the train was still receiving speed indications from the control centre, and I rather enjoyed watching the target speed changing.
