Looking through some of my freight train loads books the length limit for Leeds FLT - Wilton FLT is 88 SLUs, which in metres is 564m in total. If you have downloaded the 'Length Calculator' created by Joe(jc92) & myself that will give you the length of locos plus the length of various container flats. If you know the type of wagons used on the other services you referred to in your post you will then be able to work out how many wagons you can have behind whichever loco you use be it a Cl.66 or Cl.70. The Tunstead - Drax PS via Sheffield length limit is 55 SLUs, which is 352m. The flow to Tinsley, where does that originate from? Then I might be able to give you a length limit for that. Looking through one loads book I have there are 2 length limits for Tinsley Yard(Avesta) one is 80 SLUs, which is 512m & the other is 65 SLUs which is 416m, so it really depends where at Tinsley the train is going to. Also remember the length in metres includes the length of the loco as well. Log in to reply |

Further to the above post, the length limit on freightliner trains from Southampton MCT - Leeds FLT is 68 SLUs, which is 436m, roughly 20 container flats plus loco. But to be accurate you need to state where the train originates from as the length limits will be subject to the originating location & the route the train is booked to run. Trains originating at other parts of the country heading to Leeds or Wilton FLTs may not be the same length as trains from Southampton MCT.

The loads books I have stae the maximum length limit for Southampton - Leeds is 68 SLUs(incl. loco) which is 436m. Where does the coal train to Earles originate from & does it run with 2 axle MEA wagons or bogie HTA wagons? Log in to reply |

Then its worked with HTA bogie hoppers as they would be Cl.4 (75mph empty). The best limit I can give you is from the most recent loads book I've got which is 1997 & that is 51 SLUs for Earles Sdgs, which is 327m.

The Earles-Drax/West burton flyash is loco (often 70) plus 23 PCA. I'm fairly certain the Southampton-Leeds liners run more than 20 flats now (more like 24). The Earles coal used to be 18 HTA (3 sets of 6) with the buffer fitted wagons for tripping up the branch. Also note that the Northern units are on revised diagrams due to the Hatfield block - some more revised than you might think! God bless, Daniel Wilson Log in to reply |

Have problem with this timetable on Sheffield platform 1, put details. Train 1E62 arrives to Sheffield platform 1 and uncouple 5E62. Wait 1E62 departure, done same send loco 0E62S wich is in siding to join with 5E62. But join isn't executed. Proved several actions getting negative result. Continues without join action. Ignore why both parts don't couple correctly. Thanks. Log in to reply |
