You shop we drop! Also in the news the rather alarming report from the Camden New Journal regarding Monday's derailment on the NLL that "The line has for years been used for passenger trains [ ] carrying spent fuel from reactors at Sizewell and Bradwell nuclear power stations." NR tits-up I am on a Virgin train travelling to Euston.Rugby is stitched-up on the down-lines;no trains on the West Midlands line due to overhead problems.Delays at Congleton due to severe signalling problems; diversions via Crewe and cancellations. Plus the two derailments of freight-trains. 45mins delay at Lockerbie due to a failed freight-train,45mins delay at New Cross Gate due to signalling problems and 30 mins delay at Moofields due to line side equipment. and now the train I'm on has lost tilt. There's 20 mins delay at Barnt Green due to signalling problems and 40 mins delay at Rochester! What is up with the railway?

Rail crash investigators were on site today but would not say what cargo was on board when the train derailed. Camden Gardens was locked this morning with police tape around the gates. I remember when it was an hourly (2-car Cravens) DMU from North Woolwich to Camden Road and you could often have a car to yourself off-peak; at CR they shunted forward onto the Primrose Hill line and set back into the up platform (CR had to put in a special description to Euston PSB... memory tells me it was 0S04 but I only spent a couple of shifts there learning so I may be wrong). They quite spectacularly failed to connect with the 'motor' - the 20min interval service from Broad St to Richmond that made regulating freight around the North london so difficult. Log in to reply |

We're doing well this week - as well as the two well reported incidents at Camden Road and Gloucester, I've had reports of a Coalfish on the deck at Eastleigh, part of an East Coast HST off the road at Neville Hill (hence the hire in of an XC set for most of this week), and now reports are reaching me that 6B47 Robeston-Westerleigh has required the fire brigade at Haresfield Loop.

In fact, a number of the DMU workings, which had a longer turn-round at Camden Road, were booked to run forward to a siding on the down side approaching Primrose Hill, then returned in due course (I believe running via the down line) back to Camden Road to form their return working. The overground trains are mostly standing anyway as they are like the tube train only little cushions on the sides of the carriages
