I dont have a victoria line WTT to hand, nor am I a LUL expert so a quick one from me: does the Victoria line use the same system of codes as the bakerloo, ie a letter to indicate destination, then the trains running number for the day, or are they always prefixed V regardless of destination or route? On the LUL system, all trains run to their own unique 3-digit train number, and do not actually have a letter to denote line/destination. So for instance on the Victoria Line, train 201 will run around all day and go to a mix of destinations. Within the Working Timetable, all trains do carry a "trip" number. Trip 01 is generally the first trip from depot and then this number is increased each time a train begins to travel in a new direction. So trip 01 could be depot-Seven Sisters, followed by trip 02 Seven Sisters-Walthamstow etc. This trip number is used in some areas of Service Control, but on the whole, the minute-by-minute management of the service is done by referring only to the train (or set) number. The use of a letter on Network Rail-shared lines is to assist the NR signaller as to which train is which, and also satisfies their use of 4-character headcodes - there are many NR familiar people on this forum who can probably shed more light on this side of things. In Simsig, the Victoria Line trains have a prefix of V to not only denote their line, but also to satisfy a couple of sim-related factors. Have a look in the simulation folder on your system and look at splash screen images Splash4.jpg and Splash5.jpg

If the Sim TT did not use the V (or some other) prefix then all the trains would run displayed as 201-, 202- and so on. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |
