M569 (Down Main, first signal past Cleghorn LC) - this signal will not show a Y aspect. Instead, it holds at danger (with trains braking appropriately) until M567 is Y or better (i.e. M569 can display YY or better).

M525 (Down Holytown, first signal past Law Jn) - this signal is held at red until the approach release on M541 upgrades that signal from Y to G.

I think it's to do with M573 being a 3 Aspect signal.

It does.

Are you sure? M525 is a conventional auto and the behaviour described certainly isn't in accordance with the control tables for the real aspect sequence.

Information I was given from the a signaller from Motherwell was that:
> 1. M525 on the Down Holytown at Law Jcn., is at danger as per standard
> flashing aspects installation,
> clears when route is set from M541 and TC515 is occupied.

the route from M541 to M525 is set,
so that the flashing aspects operate but M525 won't clear to a
proceed aspect until T515 is occupied. The sequence of signals if a train
was at Carluke station would be M551 D/Y flashing, M547 S/Y
flashing, M541 S/Y with junction indicator, M525 at Red.

I can say with certainty - from my professional involvement with the Motherwell North resignalling scheme - that the aspect sequence you've been given is incorrect. However as it's Sunday, I don't have immediate access to the control tables to allow me to demonstrate it.

The information I gave to Peter is correct, having worked at Motherwell PSB for 31 years, I think I would have sufficient knowledge to advise Peter on the correct aspect conditions.

I don't doubt that after 31 years you are very familiar with the panel but at the time the subject was originally broached, I checked the control tables and confirmed that M525 has no special controls. It behaves as a conventional auto. The aspects are not indicated on the panel so the signaller cannot know with certainty which aspect M525 is showing at any given time anyway.
