Hello All,

Is there any website, who provide the information about how much carriage a train has in specific service? example:

2B77 MRGT - HFDN (How can i know if it is a 313 with 3 cars or 6 cars)?

If anyone can help, it will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Thiago.

What you need for loco hauled & multiple unit services are the diagrams which detail what a unit is allocated to work during that day as well as having details of the unit formation. Some station working books have details of the units used on services as well as the number of vehicles on a given train calling at that station. However there ardiscrepancies. For example the 1988 Birmingham New Street station working book for the summer of 1988 has on the cover the unit diagrams of all the services that use New street station as well as there formation in the number of seats & number of vehicles. Also inside the book the number of vehicles is included in that book & any subsequent book. Book prior to this date didn't contain that info. The many Waterloo station working books I have give details of the unit formation & the number of coaches on a given train. That said not all station working books give that info. Passenger train marshalling books give details of the formation of loco hauled services, the best place to get those as well as station working books are on e-bay, but be prepared to pay alot of money for some books(sometimes in the several hundreds of pounds). Carriage working notices give details of unit formations, again they can be found on e-bay, but also tend to sell for quite a bit of money. It really depends on whether you want the info for a modern era timetable or for a timetable based in the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s? Very few website give that kind of info as well. The only one I can think of is this one:-

http://www.prar.fsnet.co.uk/diagrams.html

which is more for the modern era timetable information. Another point to note is that not all station working books or Arrival & Departure books give the same information. That really depends on the book itself & the era the book covers. I've got over 110 station working books.Arrival & Departure books & they all differ in information quite considerably in some cases.

Try using the UK Modern Emu yahoo group for their present and past formation files. You will need to join this group first but they do have the information that you might be looking for. No harm in trying it.

It's a copy of one of the files from the uk modern emu yahoo group that I suggested. It does contain other diagrams for 365, 317 units as well as others for other operators and other routes.

Yes, One on the Old Layout 2011/2012 and another for the Modern Layout 2013/2014.

The Modern, with new services to Royston and Semi-Stoppers on the Loop. (2U00-2U99)
The Old, with Engeneering services at Hitchin, Alexandra Palace to Finsbury Park and Platform 0 King's Cross.

Thanks in advance.
Thiago.
