The new sidings to the north of the station are part of the Thameslink programme for stabling of class 700s. A wash plant is also to be built I believe.

The line between Peterborough and Spalding is being upgraded (GNGE project). New signalling and upgrading level crossings controlled by Lincoln SCC. It is for sending North/South bound freight via lincoln to increase capacity on the ECML. Also believe it will increase line speeds on the line to 75MPH. http://www.networkrail.co.uk/improvements/Great-Northern-Great-Eastern/ has the details.
