Hi all,

Something which I thought might be of interest, especially to our Welsh members.

I was looking on OTT (Open Train Times) for December 2014 and decided to look at Cardiff Queen Street. It seems that the schedule on OTT is based on Cardiff Queen Street having 5 platforms with arrangements as follows.....

Platform 1: Cardiff Bay - Cardiff Queen Street
Platform 2: Rhymney & Bargoed - Cardiff - Penarth
Platform 3: Merthyr / Aberdare / Treherbert - Cardiff - Barry - Barry Island / Bridgend
Platform 4: Trains to Coryton, Rhymney and Bargoed
Platform 5: Trains to Merthyr, Aberdare and Treherbert

..... which is based on this:
http://www.opentraintimes.com/location/CDQ/2014-12-19/14:09?empty_passenger=on&non_passenger=on&passenger=on&show_stp=on&show_var=on&show_wtt=on&utf8=%E2%9C%93

The railways around Cardiff and the Valleys continue to advance, it seems.

HTIOI,
Dave

For those who are not sure of the layout at Cardiff Queen Street....

Platform 2 is currently used exclusively for the Cardiff Bay Shuttle.
Platform 3 is currently used by all trains heading towards Cardiff Central.
Platform 4 is currently used by all trains heading north.

Platform 1 is a new bay platform behind platform 2, and will be used exclusively for the Cardiff Bay Shuttle.
Platform 5 is a new platform.

I went through Queen Street a week ago, the new signals on platform 5 hadn't been installed.

Not sure I trust OTT for an opening date. In May it said it'd be open, but that never happened.
