I though this might be of interest. Blockpost Software have released the demo version of Gloucester Road Junction, which is the first (as far as I'm aware) simulation of the Sykes 'Lock and Block' system. The full version will be available to buy fairly soon. I've tried the demo, and it's fantastic. It does require some time to get your head around though. Please note that this simulation is definitely not one for newcomers to mechanical signalling- I'd recommend getting some practise in on other simulations first. Disclaimer: I have no involvement with Blockpost Software, other than as a very happy customer. Had a go at Ford the other day and got myself tied in knots over bell codes, otherwise got on reasonably well. Peter I identify as half man half biscuit - crumbs! Log in to reply |

Yea, Ford isn't too bad. TOok me maybe 6 hours to get the hang of it (with very little semaphore-era experience. Their Exeter West simulation is MUCH harder.... twice the number of levels, much more complicated interlocking, and 6 fringes, instead of 3. Really drives home how much easier modern IECC-type signalling is....I can run Simsig Exeter at 4x or faster time acceleration on most TTs without breaking a sweat. Exeter West, which covers the down end of the Exeter platform, the engine shed sidings and the goods line to riverside, and the run up to exeter central (up to but not including the tunnel) - maybe 5% of the total routes possible in Simsig Exeter - is just completely owning my soul.

I've played around a bit with the demo versions. I couldn't find any setting for failures, or new timetables. So I wonder if there is any replay value?
