Hi All Seeing as someone else was so RUDE to write a 2014 timetable at the same time as me :doh  , I have decided to give the 2002 Timetable a crack, which I also have some data for.However, question. In 2002 there were a few Virgin Trains services on the timetable to various places. I have no data on these at all. What ran them, and what are some likely headcodes? I have the timings, but no info on what the stock formations were or what the TD's were. Also, I seem to have one more service departing (I think, not got the stuff in front of me right now) that arriving, so, an ECS must have come from somewhere. Was Eastleigh used for storing their trains at this point? Hoping someone can fill in the blanks in my knowledge. I know what Southern and South West Trains were up too, Wessex Trains is pretty easy to take a stab at and guess correctly, Virgin - nah! Virgin Trains were a strange one back then. I remember loco hauled sets going into the low level. A Class 47 would bring the train down, another would come light loco from Eastleigh and attach to the London end. This then took the train North with the original loco then running L/E to Eastleigh. However, they also had a selection of 158's as well as Voyagers. As for more trains departing than arriving. Have you accounted for stuff berthing at the Harbour overnight? ECS arriving and dividing to form more than one train? Log in to reply |

What timings do you have as I've found this online, don't know if it matches the year before: Quote: Dropping off the Cross Country timetable at the Summer timetable change. AsThis was for the final VXC services to Pompey that ended in 2003. IIRC the last few months before the operation ended HST's were used, or booked for an HST. Equally though, there is a picture at Crewe of a Voyager (221) taken in 2002 with a caption saying that it worked the 12:18 to Portsmouth Harbour. There is no 47's noted at all in the 2002 archive working section on sulzerpower.com so may well have been HST's and Voyagers. Wessex Trains was usually the 158's. On the SWT side, the odd 442 might have appeared? Happened in 2003 so maybe 2002 as well, otherwise slam door stock, 421's and 423's, same for South Central really. ECS's would have come out of the depot I would have thought I'm sure that was there, if not the sidings by the station, where IIRC one or two Wessex units were kept overnight Log in to reply |
