Think my favourites (which I also believe are fixed) are the 3 6M62's that like chasing each other all the way from Clay Cross to Kingsbury, and the 90mph edition of 6M99 which made me do a double take the first time it appeared...

Here is a saved game showing the existence of two 6M62s, one behind the other. In the Show Timetable window, both have the same UID (H74519), yet in the Train List, one of them is H74519 while the other is H74520. To make matters worse, I received an incident report stating "6M62 is running with a loss of power" but no telling which one as they both have the same speed. Unfortunately Incident Reports don't seem to be saved along with the rest of the sim. I don't think including the UID along with the headcode would be of much use here since even the UIDs are identical! I'm glad this bug has been reported and filed. Post has attachments. The UIDs aren't identical, because they are by definition unique! The Train List correctly shows the two UIDs, it is the sim in picking up the timetable from the headcode for Show Timetable that just opens the first one it finds with that headcode rather than checking the UID. I think that using Edit Timetable from the Train List shows the correct one for each train. Log in to reply The following user said thank you: maxand |

Thanks GoochyB. In that case, we have not one problem but two. The first is allowing two services with identical headcodes to coexist, the second is deriving the UID from the first matching headcode and not the Train List. It would be nice, though non-prototypical I guess, to include the UID along with the head code in any incident report, though this would be unnecessary as long as there are no duplicate coexisting headcodes. This is something that happens every day in the real world and happens in some of the SimSig sims like Saltley, so there is nothing intrinsically wrong with having identical TDs for two different trains showing at the same time. In earlier SimSig timetables, you would have the same 4-character TD showing with the trains differentiated by suffix characters in the TD (e.g. 1A00-1, 1A00-2 etc). Now that there is the scope to use UIDs to differentiate between trains, some timetables are being written with all TDs as 4 characters only, the UID supplying the unique identity for each variant under the common TD. Although in this instance these are indeed variants of similar trains that should be mutually exclusive in the TT, this does identify a more general issue that where two trains with the same headcode are in the area at the same time (as has been identified in another thread as happening with ECS trains to Central Rivers/Etches Park) then clicking the headcode of either train will always bring up the same timetable (presumably that of the one with the alphanumerically first UID) rather than the one for that particular train.

If we go back historically, a single headcode would operate a route for a whole day. Attatched is a scan from BR(LMR) CH 1979 showing the Ffestinniog branch. Note that 2D85 has been repeated twice here, and that after this, the passenger services are all running under the headcode 2D70.
