Hello everyone,

I have had SimSig on my PC for some time but until very recently not had the time to apply myself to the simulations properly. I thought I would download and try Exeter Sunday Evening Nov 2012 as it seemed suitable for an inexperienced newbie like myself. I was getting to grips with it, having restarted several times after making fairly obvious blunders and sorting out minor glitches (2E53 ID disappearing). I then arrived at the time when 1L53 arrives from Honiton and 1L80 goes to Honiton. I cannot get the line to Honiton to clear after 1L53 has left the section and route 1L80 out towards Honiton. I tried to be clever and get the driver to pass the Pinhoe signal at danger but he then reports the points being incorrectly set.

I know I am probably missing something obvious or doing something wrong somewhere but can anyone advise me on the best way to handle these two services?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Assuming 1L53 arrives at Honiton first, you'll need to do this:-
1) After it's arrived at Honiton (and clear of the single track) right click on the Normal/Accept knob to restore it to 'Normal';
2) left click on the 'Train Arr(ived Complete)' button which should restore the Block Indicator from 'Train in Section' to 'Normal';
3) click on the 'Offer' button to offer the next train to Honiton, the Block should light up the green 'Accept' after a short time;
4) You can then set the route to Honiton (after lowering the barriers if not already down!).

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Once a train has cleared Pinhoe, you need to turn the switch on the Tokenless Block to Normal (right click the arrow) and press the 'ARR' button. Once the instrument has gone to 'Normal', click the 'Offer' button to offer the train to the signalman at Honiton. After a few moments, the indicator will change to 'Train Accepted' and you can set the route to Honiton.

Full instructions on how to operate the instrument can be found in the 'Simulation Operation' section of the Exeter manual.

If you're authorising trains to pass signals at danger, you need to make sure that any points it passes over are set correctly. It sounds like you haven't set the points at the end of the single line to the correct position. Points are set by left or right clicking the point ends, full explanation here. Going into F3> Display and clicking 'Show Point Positions' may help, if you haven't explored this menu yet.

(EDIT: Andy posted while I was typing).
