Hi Gents,

I am an ex railwayman, starting off in the NE as a goods guard and then ended up in the NW(Carlisle area) as an area operational relief/commercial relief before rising to chief clerk at Runcorn then to Inter City at New Street as a manager.Ill health retired in 19195. at an early age.BR doctors would not pass me fit due to the uncommon problem which I have.

Over the years I have used the old DOS sims from SIAM(Lincoln and March and Carlisle my favourites) and have a selection of PC Rail sims.

I am looking to purchase a SIMSIG offering and my question is ,are these sims of a similar quality as the others and which would be a good one to start with?

I have played around with the old Saltley and North Wales Coast but I am now looking for a first purchase.

I do like busy and difficult ones as they hold my interest longer.

Thanks a lot

Norman Bowman

They aren't of a similar quality, they're far better!

Take a look at this page for a rough difficulty guide and area descriptions. The Pro and ARS sims should keep you on your toes, but if it's the first time you've played SimSig I'd recommend trying an easier sim while you get the hang of things. There's a mixture of free and payware in all difficulty categories, so see what you like the look of. The payware simulations have a demo mode so that you can see what they're like before committing.

SimSig is superior to everything else because what you see is what you get. Realistic to the enth degree and you can play online making life a little easier on some of the busier sims

Can't look past Carlisle - especially with Pascal's unbelievably detailed 1979/80 TT (which is soon to be re-released and be even better!)

And even better it is FREE...!

New Street is also a superb sim - it gives me the occasional heart palpitation but by jove it's cracking fun!
