I didn't expect this situation to arise as early as it has but age and rapidly failing health now force me to do withdraw from contributing actively to this forum any further. From now on I will keep a 'listening watch' as long as I am able.

Thanks to Geoff, Clive, Peter and the rest of you guys for an enjoyable if controversial few years during which we have had many robust discussions. I have learned a great deal about how the system works and have had many happy hours running Simsig.

Wish you all the best and I hope this excellent simulator progresses from strength to strength

Max

As much as we might have teased you from time to time, I think I speak for most of us when I say that we really do appreciate your presence, Max, and we'll be sad to see you go. I hope age doesn't treat you too badly.

Max, as much as we didn't always agree with the points or suggestions you made (admittedly you didn't always agree with ours), you did bring about constructive thinking amongst the forum members on a number of areas and I know that due to some of your thoughts / comments, new ideas and features have been implemented into SimSig to help make it an even better simulation (not game hehe) for all of us.

For that I would like to raise a VB stubbie and thank you and wish you the very best in the future

Gareth

Aww Max, that is really sad news indeed! I have always loved reading your posts on the forum, and your discussions have always taught me new things and made me think of everything from a different perspective. It is really sad to hear that we may not see your penmanship in these parts as much as before. I hope your situation improves for you. Good luck and thank you!

All the very best, Max! Do pop in when you can, it’ll be great to hear from you! B)

Mark (Gwasanaethau).

Max,

I'm sorry to hear this. I know that people (including myself) haven't always agreed with you, but you have raised good points from time to time and at least you've made us actually think about our assumptions rather than just carrying on blithely. You will have a permanent legacy in SimSig in the form of the visible signal numbering in Euston and other sims.

I hope it will still be possible to meet for a beer or two when I'm in Melbourne in November.

Best wishes,

Clive

Really sad to hear this Max, I think once we all realised both you and we could be robust on here we've had some extremely interesting conversations and - as Geoff and Clive said - your legacy is a number of Simsig features that otherwise wouldn't exist.

As others have said, I hope your health and the passing years will be gentle with you and maybe we'll continue to hear at least a little from you occasionally. And perhaps Clive will add a pint on my behalf if you are able to meet up in November.

With all best wishes,
Keith
