There's a lot of very confused comments here! Alphington Road sidings are those marked yellow on the map, following the A377 Alphington Road. City Basin sidings were on the other side of the main, near and above the location marked "CrossFit Exe", serving (surprise surprise!) the canal basin.
Even I was getting confused, and I Should know better. Block back for the city basin trip but not the alphington road trip!

This seems a slightly better view of the area: What's gone wrong with Google maps, it's horrendous to work with!

Cracking sim after the revisions!
I can certainly say that City Basin was used as the site of oil sidings, long after the incline down to the basin itself was lifted and that the oil sidings went yonks (as we say in Devon) ago; certainly before Silk Mill crossing went.
Certainly the Newcourt era glitch with Silk Mill needs attention.
Good to see "close crossing" warnings and auto lift featured at more crossings.
The only downright error I see is the means of accessing the SDR at Totnes. It is most definitely not a phone call to Buckfastleigh! It is best replicated as a slot as IRL it needs an Annett's Key release and a plunge.

Google maps also thinks goodrington, churston and kingswear are still national rail.

Aside from Cranbrook station - which I posted about earlier - the only other thing I notice missing is the level crossing at Eggesford station, located on the Crediton side of the station but still on the double track. Could be added by moving Eggesford station slightly to the right perhaps.

Saying that I don't know if Crediton SB monitors that crossing or whether it is automatic and simply activates when the plunger (as I believe the method of operation is) is pressed.

Eggesford crossing is a TMO and therefore wouldn't add anything to the sim.

In 2006 era (at least) up trains don't strike in at Victory AHB, barriers remain raised.

I haven't updated yet, but thanks for the update Peter.

The manual suggests that pre-1986 mode only differs in respect of Tiverton Junction, which would mean that it is strictly a small window of one year from May 1985 to May 1986, as May 1985 was when the Exeter St Davids remodelling took place (and that would be a bit more complicated to replicate).

From memory the biggest differences were a down through line (between p1 & p3), and the connections to Central were from P3 & P4 (I don't think P1 had one at all, certainly it was the main platform for services towards Dawlish). That provided a few more potential conflicts at that end of the station!

Also makings all platforms bidirectional which none were previously and connecting exeter new yard to P1 and P3 rather than the down main, the removal of the banker Spur and making the depot accessable directly from the up AND down main. Also the massive rationalisation at Newton abbot.

E68 doesn't seem to have any approach control for the route into the down loop at Dawlish Warren. This signal was definitely approach controlled in 2000 and a train could only get a single yellow for the route into the down loop (I seem to remember it stated that this was since E170 would be held at red to prevent reading through).

E627 at Norton Fitzwarren is showing as a position light in all eras. A main aspect signal was installed in 2005.

Hi Peter

On a slightly different note here, on the Tiverton Parkway era, is there any plans to add in the former passing loop at Barnstaple, as well as the branch line which carried onto Meeth at the time? While I understand that there were considerable track alterations in other Exeter areas at the time this was lifted (1985), it would offer a good option for running older timetables

I've noticed that the auto buttons for the signals listed previously by others doesn't work in pre 1986 mode. Same problem with Silk Mill barriers not being down and signals clearing.Sorry if this has been posted before Love the update.

  • E37 fails to clear for riverside yard.
  • didnt realise theres a slot request now.
  • route light for E679 to E677 fails to light on TC TJKX

  • route from E35 to E677 fails to TORR.

When I loaded a saved game (2015tt 0430 start) I got this strange display. The sticky note was originally over New yard - moved for the screen capture.

If that save was on an older version you'll just have to start again.

I assume you started that game on the previous version?

It looks like some of the data affecting those track circuits has changed between v5.0 and the previous version. I don't think there's a cure for that- you'll have to start again on the new version.

Ah forgot about that; "easy" mode (automatic with "Perfect" and "Beginner" scenarios) gives you TCs displayed, otherwise it's hollow track. Old saves will not have the necessary data to say which to show so it shows none.

1 - not listed on tables I have
3 - Fixed
4 - TORR is global per signal not route - odd

Another bug (I assume):- Unable to call call-on routes from E260 or E160 towards Exeter Central. Clicking on the white triangle for either E213 or E313 kills the flasher (Entry call) on E160/260 as the case my be) as starts a new flasher on E213 or E313 (whichever you clicked on).

E3/203 to the South Devon should clear with a Green aspect (and stencil indication "DV", but SimSig doesn't have them) not a Yellow

Just started playing on this, looks good.

One thing I have noticed which doesn't seem to have been mentioned is that the crossings near Norton Fitzwarren (Bradford on Tone, Victory) don't seem to work, the indicators stay on R as a train passes, certainly in the Up direction.

Also you seem to get xxx secs approach locking when cancelling a route even if a train is nowhere near, is this normal?

Yes as the signals aren't fitted with comprehensive approach locking.
