Horsham Simulation 'Call-on' advice required. 28/12/2015 at 13:10 #79281

A belated happy Christmas to everybody.

As I am new to Simsig, I have just purchased the Horsham and Dorking simulation which is in the 'beginners' category.
I have read the User's Guide and am managing to control things ok and learning by 'trial & error'
The one thing that I haven't been able to fathom so far is when I have to 'call-on' a second train into platform 2 at Horsham, which is to be joined onto the one already at the platform.
The User Guide says 'Click on the entrance signal, and then the exit signal of the required platform'.
I do this, but the entrance signal (848) just remains on red. Eventually the driver telephones and the only way I can see to make any progress, is to advise him to 'inspect the line' and then to 'Pass the Signal at Danger'. The same thing happens at the following 'shunt' signal (1410). I do finally get the second train into the platform where it is joined onto the first, but by this time the train leaving the platform is considerably late!
This also happened on a previous occasion.
I have saved the sim at this point. Let me know if I need to provide a copy of the saved file.
Have I missed something? What am I doing wrong? :S
Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks. bugsy

The instructions you've found are general instructions for setting call-on routes. Unfortunately, the situation at Horsham station is slightly different, and is explained in the 'panels' section of the Horsham simulation manual. Instead of setting the route to the main signal, you need to set it to the white shunt arrow beside it, which will set the call-on route. The signal will clear when the train approaches.

Thank you Steamer.

I'll do a little more 'homework' and read the manual more thoroughly.
I have encountered another slight problem, but I'll see if my 'homework' can answer that as well. If not' I'll post another query.
