I've noticed an error 2F53 06.08 Wigan North Western-Liverpool is pathed to go to platform 4 arriving 06.56 then depart as 2E74 Lime Street-Huddersfield at 07.16, however, 1H43 is already on platform 4 departing 07.13 on the Manchester Airport Express so you'll have to re-path it to platform 1 as no other trains are due that'll interfere with 2F53/2E74 on that platform.

The description for the timetable reads, in part:

Quote:

There is no guarantee that there won't be platform or line conflicts, and therefore as per real life, the signaller should remain aware of what he/she has in their platforms and be prepared to re-platform if necessary.
To expand further, some timetable authors fix obvious errors like arriving in one platform and departing from another, but leave conflicts as per the written timetable from NR/RT/BR.

Ok, but still post timetable errors when anyone come across them as sometimes the even author can miss errors they've typed.

Ok, but still post timetable errors when anyone come across them as sometimes the even author can miss errors they've typed.

But the point is, of course, that the timetable author may have typed it correctly - that this is how the timetable was delivered to the actual signalmen and station staff, who then had to work out for themselves how it was actually going to be done on the day (and possibly quite differently the next day, until somebody worked out what would work best or, perhaps, some kind of amendment was issued).

Professional timetable writers didn't always get it right. There was a period when the North East London had fast Bishops Stortford trains timetabled via Southbury, having to mix it wirh the all-stations Cheshunts from Cheshunt and then with the (also all-stations) Enfields from Bury Street Junction. I did get to see it a little when 'visiting' Hackney Downs box in around 1979/80. It didn't make for good performance. It wasn't sorted out for many years and was still remembered by the time I was Station Manager on that patch (were I to quote the Area Manager - no less - on his view of the timetable I'd be banned for bad language).

Then there was the description I heard of an even worse mess on the South Eastern, some years previously (before Dartford PSB, so passenger information at Dartford was pretty sketchy). It included such delights as crew relief at New Cross in the middle of the peak The story was told by the person who'd been Area Manager Dartford at the time, again with a pungent commentary on the parentage, ability and oxygen-consuming proclivities of the timetable writers. At least you don't have to operate that sort of timetable on Simsig...

Having just acquired the Station Simplifiers for Leeds and Liverpool Lime Street various anomalies are evident when compared to what is shown in TRUST.

I would go with the simplifiers from the guys who have to work the panels
