We are a fortnight away from the meet at the Soloman Cutler in Birmingham. At the time of writing there are only 10 people who have signed up that they are going to attend of whom only 3 are bringing laptops (and 1 of those laptops will only be available for others to use when the owner is taking a pnb).

That is going to make it very difficult to have any meaningful multiplay session and equally difficult for JamesN to work out which sims and TTs to prepare for use in the session. If you do plan to attend and haven't yet signed up, could you please put your details on the form available at this link.

I would hope this goes ahead: it will be a real surprise to me if it does not.

There is no question of it not going ahead because people have already invested in travel tickets, hotels etc. We are now up to 4 laptops so hopefully we will have enough for a useful session in 2 weeks time - and if we don't we might just have to spend a bit more time socialising.

I still can't be certain I'll be coming. The missus has pulled rank on me and may be away for part of the day. If so, I won't be able to leave home until she's back (someone has to watch the kids).

Guys

If we're still short of laptops send me an email a couple of days before the meet, and I'll bring one. I didn't originally offer to do so because the one I've currently got is rather heavy, but I don't mind doing so if it's really needed.

I have now booked into a hotel, so i'm definately coming to the meet!
I am hoping to be able to attend this meet on the 12th and I will bring my laptop and power lead along for the use of setting up a simulation. The main thing is if I can trust my memory to remember for me  Hopefully I will remember as I aim to book in for a nights stay the night before.

I will be there. It'll be nice to catch up with some people I haven't seen for a couple of years, and to meet some new faces.

I've put my name down

I accidentally made a typo and ended up with a 'q' at the end, if ypu could delete that off the namebadge that would be appreciated

Will do.

As I write we have 20 attending but only 6 laptops.

21 so far signed up with 6 laptops. However, I know of at least one more attending who has not bothered to sign up.

I'll be printing the badges on Friday afternoon so if you haven't signed up yet and you want to see your name on a badge please fill in this form by lunchtime on Friday.

Have you had a signup form from me? Can't remember if I filled one out. If I haven't then I will do so.

And after all that, the provisioning process has broken down and I have no blanks to print the labels. Apologies to all.

Edit. Worked out Plan B and we will have badges.

Sorry that I'm telling you now after you've printed name badges and not before, but I've just realised I'm far enough ahead with my uni courseworrk that I will have enough free time to actually come to this meet. I will be bring not just one but two laptops, and some hopefully usefull cables as well.

Thanks to everyone involved in arranging this. It was a pleasant session and we had enough laptops to get a decent chained West Midlands session in with New St, Saltley and Wolves.

My thanks also to those responsible for contributing to, and organising, the meet. A good West Midlands session.

Thanks to all for the kind words. I thought it was one of the better venues we have managed to find and I would personally be quite happy to go there again.

The meet itself was somewhat hampered by the rail problems at Sheffield which caused some of those attending to be delayed until 15:00 or later. As a result we were a bit short of hardware in the early stages. We started with a New Street/Saltley chain (lots of work for those on Saltley as there were only 2 machines covering 5 panels). By the end of the meet we had enough kit and had Aston, Coventry and Wolverhampton in the chain as well.

JamesN and his colleagues had worked hard to get a set of sims saved at 06:00 so that we could get straight into the morning peak. We started rolling at about 12:30 real time and ran through until 17:30 which was a good workout.

Tony (tjfrancis) will be adding his photos to this thread in due course (and I'll then pirate them and put them on the Wiki!).

We had 27 who had signed up to attend. There were a handful of no-shows but also a handful who had not signed up so we had about 25 either simming or socialising. This is a few less than the estimate of the attendance that I gave to the venue; hopefully that will not be a block if we try and go there in the future.

Thanks to andy0607 for providing the network and to JamesN and friends for putting together the saved games and running the simming side of the day. Finally thanks to everyone who attended. I hope you all had a good day.
