Apologies if I haven't tracked this feature down yet bur on the old forum you could find out which users were logged in. For example I would look at the bottom of the Recent Posts section. This can be useful if you are looking to see if an individual is online or perhaps trying to gauge whether there are another users for a short notice hosted session. Yes likewise I've been trying to find out whose is logged in. This was very useful if you wanted to contact someone to host a test session for a timetable being written prior to release. I would like to see this facility back if possible.
