I am having a bit of a problem with this service. 7G31-A arrives in Redford Junction DGL where the loco detaches OK. However I have to change the TD manually to 0B31 and then the ARS sets the route onto the main line. The ARS also reverse 0b31 back to the next signal. I route 0B31 into the head shunt and then back into the DGL. At this point they are supposed to join but for some reason this is not happening. Using F2 shows (for 0B31) train 7B31-A in front and (for 7B31-A) awaiting joining train 0B31.

Am I missing something somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

It could be that something hasn't stepped forward properly so that the sim doesn't think that both loco and train at at the joining location. Go into F2, right click on each train and pick the "edit timetable" option. The current location of each train is in bold type. If the sim thinks that one of the trains is not at the correct location, highlight the correct location then click the "Current/Next Location" button and OK your way back out of things. If you have to change the location and the trains still don't join, go back into F2, highlight the loco, right-click again and under the signalling options select "shunt forward".

If none of that works my box of tricks is empty but someone else may have more ideas.

I think I was to blame for this problem as I was interposing the TD to match what was supposed to happen next. Having played around a few times I discovered that if I did and did not the actions shown below then everything worked correctly.

Firstly I changed the stopping point to Far End (from default), just in case it was a length problem. I haven't tried it again without doing this but may do later.
When 7B31-A arrives on the DGL I was interposing the TD for 0B31 so that it would route itself and I think this was part of the problem. On the working operation I ignored the TD and manually routed 0B31 onto the main line. Once the engine had arrived on the main line I interposed TD 0B31 onto it, to replace the displayed 7B31. I also ignored the fact that there was no TD displayed for 7B31-A on the DGL (I had been interposing the TD).
I set the route for 0B31 into Thornton Yard and when it had arrived I set the route across to the DGL and this time they joined successfully.
Lastly I interposed the TD for 7B31-A to replace the displayed 0B31.

Knew it had to be my fault.

ps I re-ran that part of the sim again and this time they failed to join even though I followed the routine that had worked the previous time. Just a little frustrated.

Reason: Technique failed to work second time.
