Hey I am new to Simsig, started out with Royston and have now advanced to Gloucester as that is quite local to me. The question i have may be silly but here we go...

Regarding the ARS, is this available on every simulation? and if so is it automatically activated or is there a way to turn it on/off?

Again sounds a bit silly but hey.

Thanks for your time guys,

Nick

Some sims have it fitted (Swindon A&B, Didcot (obsolete), Waterloo, Liverpool St, Peterborough) and some Sims had it but it's been removed in later versions (don't know why) Southampton and Stafford.

You can turn it off to a point see here.

In addition to what jimgos2005 said, you can also collar ARS areas using the 'REM' or 'Reminder' button. Simply click the REM or Reminder button then click on the ARS Sub area button. This prevents you from perhaps accidentally turning the ARS Sub area back on (you would have to remove the collar reminder first to turn it back on). And you don't have to turn off the ARS Sub area before you collar it, you could collar it first then turn it off.

Hope this helps.

I do have another question.

Im running Gloucester a lot and i'm making progress, but I seem to be getting a lot of trains terminating at Gloucester with no further timetable as a result blocking the platform for other trains, causing me to use the wrong platform ect... Short of 'removing the train' is there anything else that I can do?? They just wont budge :S

Thanks again,

Nick

If the TT is properly written, there shouldn't be the need to start abandoning things which is why I was asking which TT and which trains.

Yeah, I appreciate that, but what I was pointing out was that there should be no need to 'remove' the train.

Hewitt,

Firstly, I don't remember fully as not played Gloucester much but I don't think there is ACI (automatic code Insertion) at Gloucester station. This means you as the signaller are responsible for changing the train ID's. If you look at the timetable for a terminating train, the last entry at Gloucester will have some additional actions such as DF (divide front), DR (divide rear), J (Join), N (new name) or some combination of them. If the train has an N, then that means the train ID will change and the ID following the N: represents the train ID of the follow on service that the train becomes.

Once you know what the new ID is, you can alter the train ID on screen by either right clicking on the signal the train is at or right clicking on the train itself and selecting interpose. Note though that the screen will move whatever ID you give it, whether the train is really called that or not. So on screen you can call it 1B00 but the timetable knows it as 1C00. It's up to you to ensure then that when you name a train you give it the correct train ID.

Alternately, another option is to look at the train list by pressing 'F2'. Check the Train ID for those stopped at Gloucester which should also show the platform number they are in as well. That should give you an idea on what train is where. If the train is described as "stopped", note it's location and ID and check its is named correctly.

Hope that helps

Chris
