How to authorise train past platform starter when locked at danger 14/01/2022 at 01:26 #143524

I have a situation in Exeter sim, but it seems to be a generic issue:
If the platform starter is locked at danger by a fault (e.g. TC failure), how can I authorise a train train to pass it if the train has made a station stop?
If the starter is at danger, the train may TRTS,but will not get the right-away (rules being correctly followed by the guard). This means that it is not technically waiting at a red signal, and so I cannot authorise it to pass the signal. Oh dear. This is a "catch-22" situation - I can't see how to rectify this at all within the rules, except by going into the sim incident control panel and making the TC work again, or waiting until the technician fixes it!

My specific situation is in the Exeter Sim: Track TJT (overlap beyond E41 on UM between St Davids and Cowley Bridge) has failed (randomly). Thus a train waiting to depart Exeter St David (e.g. at Plat 5 / E37, but could be any platform in the Up direction) will not get a proceed aspect, and cannot be authorised to pass the signal as noted above.

This seems to be a core code 'bug' - I have experienced it before in th epast, and I think patience for the sim-technician to arrive was the only solution (and lots of delay!)
I guess IRL the driver would be contacted by the signaller and would agree a despatch with the guard before proceeding under the signaller's instruction. Nowadays I guess a suitable member of staff might be required to assist at an LC where signals cannot be used (not sure of the exact rule, perhaps a train can be authorised to proceed by the signaller once the LC is proved down, perhaps more is needed).

Any ideas how to resolve the situation?
And I know, it might have been asked before, but I can't see a search facility in the forum so can't easily find the previous answer.

Screenshot attached, excuse the various post-it notes! 1A79 is the train taht needs to depart...it's it busy at this moment!

The train will go to the state "Waiting for right-away at []", but not depart. In this state, you can use the "pass signal at danger" option from the F2 train list. Or, as jc92 said, the train should call in after 2 minutes past departure time, from which you can also authorise it.

There are a few cases, though, where trains go into "Held by conditions" instead, if there are special requirements for a train to depart the station. In these cases, trains will indeed get stuck with no way to authorise them, as they also do not call the signaller in this state.

And don't forget, in the specific situation you cite here, Red Cow LC barriers need to be down before you authorise a driver to pass a signal at Danger leading over the crossing.

One such case is attached, at Liverpool Street, where 5M10 is stuck at platform 12. It is "held by conditions" because of the double starter, and has already been authorised to pass signal at danger (via F2 train list), but refuses to move.

Edit: Same issue now also for the train in platform 11.
It's also an issue for trains in platforms 9 and 10 needing to go towards the ML.

Thanks for the reminder, although I had already put the barriers down. It may well be that nasty loophole where a rule applies, and they never call. Meh.
Let's just call it a bug, and it can go in the queue to be resolved.

In hte sim, with the job well and truly in a mess, eventually the failure was repaired and some semblance of normality restored over the coming hours. What fun that was!
