Hi all, Decided to try Oxted, which, I thought will be ideal for a beginner like myself. I downloaded the 16th February 2020 timetable and fairly quickly ran into something I am unsure how to deal with. The era is 2013 and the scenario, as required by the timetable, is the East Grinstead Possession one. Service 1L13 is sitting on Oxted Platform 2, to depart 08.29. Service 5Z15 enters from South Croydon and it is supposed to go through Oxted Platform 2, reverse at Signal 306 and stop at Oxted Platform 1. With 1L13 already occupying Platform 2, what exactly needs to be done to allow 5Z15 to proceed to Platform 1 via Platform 2 and Signal 306?  Post has attachments. Log in to view them. As the timetable notes say: Most trains operating were on VSTP so platform conflicts and delays are inevitable. Easy sim indeed, but one of the more complex disrupted timetables for it. So I would think that 1L13 needs to be got away from P2. You would need to abandon timetable and shunt it somewhere by giving instructions in F2 window, or writing an additional timetable. The obvious is send to P1 ready to work back. - as Oxted - Lingfield is also shut due to high winds in this scenario. However what does 5Z15 do ? Does it leave before 0829 ? Hi there, Thank you for your response! Indeed, I expected disruptions but I was quickly shaken awake that it's still a bit tough for me. 5Z15 departs after 1L13, at 0859. For now, however, I will try a different timetable as I first want to familiarize myself with the basics. Abandoning the timetable, giving instructions in the F2 window or writing additional timetables only once I am okay with the fundamentals. For now, I will go for another timetable. Log in to reply |

Oxted is a good sim for a beginner. You just happened to pick the wrong timetable, there are plenty of others available with the sim or to download from early eras to the present day. the 16 Feb. 2020 timetable is a one off based on a specific event, however, it is a very interesting and challenging timetable to operate. better to work through some of the others first.

Thank you, will do! I just tend to choose the most modern Timetables, which, in case of Oxted proved to be slightly beyond my current signalling skills. Trying another TT instead!
