Mobile device - unable to switch to desktop view. 11/02/2022 at 04:13 #145115

Hey everyone, I'm writing this from my iPhone. I despise mobile view on most websites, including Simsig, so I like to switch to desktop view. It has always worked on SimSig'a website until today. Today I've begun to receive a 404 error.

Any ideas?

I noticed this yesterday and have logged Mantis 35700 to take a look. That looks like Safari you're using, I'm not sure if it has a "view desktop site" mode like Chrome does, but that is still working for me, albeit I need to zoom in a bit more.

I am getting this also via safari. Using view desktop mode takes me to the error message also. Appears mobile view is the only one I can see.

The funny thing is that the "desktop" version of the page is actually using a responsive layout, which I find perfectly cromulent even on a mobile phone.

If you’re using safari on iPhone or iPad go to Settings/Safari

Towards the bottom is the Request Desktop Website option.

Working on my iPhone.

It’s also possible to tap on the “Aa” menu in the address bar on Safari to get the desktop view on a one-time basis. If you change it in settings, you will get the desktop version of all websites all the time.

If I open SimSig in Chrome in the mobile version of the website that automatically loads up, if I then click on the Desktop version at the top of the page then it gives me the same 404 error so the OP is not the only person who is having issues here.

IF I however click in the settings to load the page as a desktop then no such error occurs, hasten to add it has only been having the issues fairly recently so I hope whoever is responsible for the website can fix it.

A file was missing from the upload a few days ago, which should now be fixed.
