I've finally completed this long overdue timetable for release and it's now in the download section awaiting approval.

The timetable is fully tested and functional. It does include a number of clashes which are authentic to real life and can be worked around. Job Stoppers have been altered in order to work correctly. The Timetable has been written to chain with Derby 1992 Winter Weekdays, however this is untested.

The Timetable is set during a period of change for Birminghams Rail Network. Snow Hill station has recently reopened with a regular sprinter service under Metro branding to Leamington Spa and Stratford with turnbacks at Shirley and Dorridge. There is also a Leamington - Stratford Shuttle. The longer distance services beyond Leamington have yet to be implemented, nor has the extension towards Stourbridge. On the Cross City line, this is the final timetable to use DMUs on the full route with the Electric service to shortly begin. The usual mixture of longer distance cross country and parcels services also operate.

A wide array of Steel, Intermodal, Oil and Coal traffic operates through the area along with Automotive traffic centred on Washwood Heath servicing Morris Cowley, Swindon and Longbridge with Cars for dispatch to Harwich and Bathgate. This timetable also features a functional banker for MGR traffic up Camp Hill. Speedlink has recently ended and trainload freight is in a period of recession having cut back unprofitable flows and focussed itself on its main profitable flows so this timetable is slightly quieter than others released.

I hope you have as much fun running this timetable as I've had writing it.

Looks good but you might want to update the actual title as it says "Derby 1992 Winter Weekdays" when listed with the Saltley timetables.

The actual filename is fine, probably just a oversight though.

Thanks for that. I've updated it pending approval.

Enjoying it so far - couple of hours in.

One bit of feedback, I think the banker could do with some TT rules to say it can only depart after the bankee train has arrived ready for joining.

Also a few hours in on a Friday.

I don't find holding the banker for a late arrival to be any problem. That's part of the job.

Two other things,
1 the rail grinder from Henley to Shirley took an hour longer than scheduled, and lost another 20minutes on the way back. 2N01 left 15 minutes late.
2 Kingsbury trains from Derby are scheduled through the Elford loop in other simulations. I had my first goods train come through 28 minutes early and couldn't do a thing to keep the three closely following passenger trains from delays.

This is an important point when it comes to Simsig. Do we really want EVERYTHING to be so tightly regulated to the point where it starts becoming "automatic"?

Real-life drivers had to sit waiting in sidings for the trains they were banking to arrive on many occasions back in the day, no doubt checking their watch because booking-off time was fast approaching! I've started playing Simsig with delays and failures turned up quite a bit these days, just to make it more interesting. Although waiting 20 minutes for a passenger taken ill on a light engine in the middle of nowhere does amuse and annoy me somewhat in equal measure :-)

I've always thought that the failures part of the game could (can it?) be re-programmed so that certain failures only happen to passenger/empty freight trains, thus doing away with broken windows on a rail grinder etc.

I'll recheck this, however iirc there isn't a rule that prevents departure from location A if a train hasn't arrived at location B, only location A as well.

As Lazzer says, treat the waiting call as "any idea where X is Bobby?"

I'll check the first two later.

The Kingsbury traffic isn't timetabled into Elford in 1992 as it didn't have to wait for another to come out like they do now. IRL they would be put inside if running early or if Kingsbury didn't accept them but there isn't much that can be done outside of a chain.
