I'm not sure if this has been raised before but as Platform 3 at Hertford North is a bay platform why when writing timetables, does the sim think it's a valid route for a London to Stevenage service to be routed via the platform with the next stop as Watton at Stone with NO reversals at Hertford North!

I've checked it a dozen times as I'm playing a timetable which I've edited for my own enjoyment and every time I've left Platform 3 as the booked platform instead of Platform 2 it says the route is valid....

Obviously this shouldn't be the case as the sim should say it is not a valid route.

Simulations without ARS don't generally check platform, path and line codes at locations- they'll let you select any available option without objecting.

Does the driver call wrong route if you try and make the move? He should do.

Not every route has that kind of validation built into it as far as timetabling is concerned, especially older sims (and lets be fair WTTs sometimes have that sort of error!)

That might well be the case however if you click the button to valid the route surely it ought to be intelligent enough to see it's not a valid route after all K454 is a valid route to Hornsey EMU Depot Up Carriage Line but K458 which should be just as valid says there is no route between selected signals.

But that's something for another time.

No as has been said none ARS simulations don't always validate timetables to that degree. Even NR themselves don't.

The tools for producing "wrong route" calls have been in the core code since before I got involved with SimSig. Those for doing this sort of detailed checking of timetables are much more recent, so older sims may not have been updated to use them.
