It is with deep regret that I'm posting this message. Having just received a phone call from the partner of Chris(Derbybest) she rang ro advise me that Chris past away last Monday 13th May, 2019. She told me he'd been waiting for a lung transplant & having returned home from hospital he contracted pneumonia. The paramedic were called & they took him to hospital. His partnet told me that HE told hospital staff that he didn't want to be resusitated if things turned for the worse. Sadlyhe is no longer with us. I will post details on here when his partner Julie rings me back to confirm details of the funeral. Chris had been a member of SimSig for a long time & he also attended the Derby meet as he lived in Derby. I for one will miss him.

Chris will be sorely missed. A great loss to the community, Derbybest was a great handle for him as he was one of the best.

We started timetabling together about the same time and learned slowly together at first. The amount of hours we spent with 58050 on the Sheffield 83 timetable were great times. Chris was first to get the Sheffield shunts correct (even tho I wrote them and should have known better lol).

His dedication to his timetables was second to none, His 4 day Exeter being a prime example.

Condolences to Julie and the family, RIP my friend and see you on the other side.

I never knew Chris but it is obvious from both this thread and in many other threads that he was a knowledgeable and respected member of the Simsig community. RIP Chris and condolences to Julie and his family.

Just saw the sad news , having met Chris on a few occasions , his knowledge of things railway related were second to none. My last memory , I know a few will remember it , was the Sheffield meet a few years ago , what a man. I'm sure everyone will agree that it's a shame when someone passes away but for those who met him who can't see him off , just remember the last thing you remember of him , as Pascal said , his username was unique , in finishing , God speed Chris , you may have gone but your legacy will be forever remembered in Simsig. Farewell old mate , gone but not forgotten

Chris had sadly been in ill health for some time, as some of his posts here indicated. We hope he's at rest now, no more pain or suffering. He contributed to SimSig a lot in the form of timetables and knowledge so he will indeed be missed. Condolences.

In fact, his ID number here indicates he's one of our earliest members.

I received another phone call this evening from Julie(Derbybest's partner) who is still awaiting a confirmation date of his funera; due to the original funeral directors are now having some building work being done on their premises. Her daughter is going to contact another one to come up with a better arrangement. I mentioned to her that 18 people had responded to this thread & she was grateful to hear that & wished me to pass on her thanks to all concerned. She can'r read the thread at the moment as she never knew the password Chris had on his laptop & at present has given up after spending several hours & not the password correct. However I did mention to her that if she gave me her daughters e-nail address then I can copy & paste a link to this thread. She said she will ring me next Wednesday with an update. She thanked me again for everyones kind words. I'll update this again when she rings me next time.

Kind regards.
