7T97 Westbury to Wootton Basset Stone Terminal via Swindon Down Goods (loco R/R). Departure for Stone Terminal ex Down Goods at 14.11; bit of a palaver with the run round of loco but eventually train was ready to leave on departure time. Problem occurred when 7T97 was approaching Wootton Basset Junction; train disappeared from track circuit indication but, on inspection of train list, it was noted that 7T97 was showing in the 'UP' direction with 6T86 approaching on the Down Line (correctly) and blocking further movement of 7T97. Obviously, something wrong here! I tried reversing 7T97 with no success and also abandoned the timetable which made no difference whatsoever as 7T97 continued to show itself in the 'UP' direction. In the end, I had no alternative but to remove the train from the sim. I was operating in non-ARS mode but I don't suppose this would affect the problem I had. I have looked at all the threads in connection with the Swindon sim and did not see any remarks on this issue but I could have missed them. Any thoughts on this?

Terry.

Please attach a saved game, it is not clear what exactly went wrong.

Was 6T86 sent from Swindon to Wootton Bassett following 7T97?

Hello Albert, thanks for the response. I have attached afile but I don't know whether this is what you want! 6T86 was indeed following 7T97 from Swindon.

Did you abandon the TT before you tried to manually reverse the train? If you try to reverse the train with the TT still live the TT instructions (or the way that the sim is reading them) may immediately override your reversing instruction and return to the status quo.

I need to re-run the scenario again and get a screenshot of the problem. I cannot remember in what order I tried to rectify the situation. Bear with me!

Further to my original thread, I have re-run the scenario which provided the same problem as before with 7T97 reversing on the Down line on approach to Wootton Basset Jn.(see attached screenshots). On this occasion, I abandoned the timtable and reversed 7T97 movement. It took a while but eventually 7T97 moved towards the Wootton Bassett stone terminal and train was successfully sent into the 'stone terminal'. However, I'm mystified as to why 7T97 should behave in this manner. I should add that 7T97 was originally routed on to the Down Goods via the Down line from signal No.45 as the train was too long (685m.) to go via the Up line on to the Down Goods line which would have fouled the Down Main line and made the loco R/R impossible. The length of the train has been queried by 'Steamer' in a previous post but working to the existing timetable, I operated on the basis that the train was 685m. and so routed the train to enable the loco R/R. Anyway, I'm still none the wiser with regard to the behaviour of 7T97 on approach to Wootton Basset Jn.

Looking back through the Forum, it seems that you've already reported this problem here: https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Forum/ThreadView/53224

The outcome of that thread was that the train had the wrong reversing location in its TT.

There is now a timed delay built in after the reverse is initiated to allow for the real life things like the driver changing ends, the brakes blowing off etc.
