Unintended error but will be left as one for the signaller to work around.

The Manual does state:

"There are a small number of conflicts of pathing, shunting and platforming in the TT. This is probably due to discrepancies in the exact dates for which the source documentation was valid. Users of the sim will have to work round these conflicts but there are no insuperable obstacles."

Hello friends, what's the latest version of this timetable?

For some reason I can't see it in the files index to download (user-submitted timetables section) to check.

I have 6.10.

It's bundled with the sim so will update automatically through the normal update process. 6.10 is the current version. It is unlikely that this version will see any more updates.

However, new information keeps coming to light and discussions with one of the former operators at Carlisle have indicated that a number of the shunt and pilot moves in the timetable are not handled in a prototypical manner. The actual moves cannot be replicated in the existing sim format as a crossover from the south end of the Wall siding to Siding 2 is not present in the sim. The developer of the sim (TomOF) has now left the scene but should there come a time when another developer is willing to take on the work of re-modelling the sim then the TT will also be re-worked to bring it into line with contemporaneous operations (and the opportunity will also be taken to clean up some of the niggles people have kindly reported over the years).

In a thursday timetable, it appears that 6S36 (UID 6S36, the first working that comes from Dalston) is missing a rule to only enter after its light loco 0S36 (UID 0S36) has left.

Looks like the rule is missing across the week. Thanks for the spot. As explained above the TT will not be updated but there is nothing to stop you amending your own version of the TT.

At some point in the autumn of 2020 I did start updating the Carlisle 79/80 TT as I have all the AC electric loco diagrams covering the late 1970s to 1980 & was updating the trains by adding the loco diagrams in as well as some diesel loco diagrams I've got for the period. Unfortunately when I finished it it turned out that I'd updated the wrong version of the TT. 2 things here I had no enthusiasm to restart doing it all again on the updated TT version & since then Ive been too busy writing TTs for other sims. One I'm sure I'll no doubt at updating V6.10, but don't ask when that is likely to happen cos I couldn't answer that.

Thanks for your comments about this timetable,. I may have written the timetable, but John(postal) is by far the real master of this timetable as he's played it hundreds of times. You could call him 'YODA' on this one. He could probably play it blindfolded. Also John has created an excellent excel document which is included in the package of timetables which lists comprehensively all the pilot movesments. I started writing this timetable probably 7 - 8 years ago now because I had thje actual station working book owned by signaller W.J. Taylor at Carlisle PSB. He was the signaller that re-routed a divided freightliner train away from Citadel station which would have caused significant damage to the station & no doubt loss of life. Tom dedicated this sim to him & it made sense doing this timetable as the Penmanshiel diversions werer actually hand written in the arrival & departure book by him. This in turn makes the timetable some what more challenging. Even whilst testing one developer said the Carlisle 1979-41980 timetable made King's Cross 1985 timetable look like a baby's toy. It's certainly a hectic timetable especially overnight with all the motorail , sleeper, postal, parcels & newspaper traffic oh & not to forget the freightliner & freight trains to boot. Compared to the 1st release this edition is by far alot more accurate & runs much more smoothly. But be warned if you make an error you'll pay for it.
Keith the tagging have come from the LMR 1981 edition of the Marshalling of freight trains book I have & the 1981 Eastern Region Freight train marshalling book I've also got. This timetable will take a long time to finish as I can't quite manage this timetable at times at 1:1.5 speed.
Just came across this this youtube video on the above incident on the 40th anniversary of it (1st May 1984).

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.
