Evening all, I am beginning work on a timetable and intend to use the CSV method in order to reduce the time taken. However, I am unsure how to use this so would be grateful if someone would be able to point me in the right direction to do so. Thanks in advance, Jamie Log in to reply |

Hi Jamie Best way I have found to create a TT when working in CSV is to first draw up a couple trains in the sim TT editor before exporting. This will give you all the relevant locations etc in the appropriate layout. After that, you can simply delete any of the trains there, and add in using lets say for example 02:00 for a departure time, or 02/00 for passing time (Someone please correct me about the slash there, may be wrong) I personally don't find working in CSV very helpful, I find it much easier to work in the built in TT editor, or for when adding rules etc to then open the TT in the XML format and edit within that (That's a whole new kettle of fish though) James Log in to reply |

I just open the wtt file in Emacs. Emacs can handle the zip compression so you can easily do small changes, eg. I experimented this way with timetables going past the 100:00 mark. However, it has to be said that XML is not a parsimonious format. I find it convenient that I can use XML tools to do queries against the timetables or mechanized edits (eg. "Any pax train stopping at Sandy next stop Bigglswade must have platform 1" or "Trains shunting from Peterborough Px to Py will reverse at tiploc ABCDEF"), but direct XML editing is a bit of a pain. Unfortunately I cannot get the system to work and open the XML files, so I am unsure as to what can be done. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I meant program (I've tried Notepad, Notepad++, ConTEXT and Emacs).

Just looked at it and Emacs needs the unzip program in path. Or you can just unzip the file to your disk with your favorite program.
