Are you looking to develop and put your Simsig skills/knowledge to the next level....

We at TRE our a leading innovator in the supply of dedicated railway simulators (http://www.trerail.co.uk)

We are currently looking for contractors to help with the data development of our UK rail simulators integrated with IECC, Westcad and MCS control systems for NR training. Paying excellent market rates, based in Bradford on Avon near Bath, our office easily commutable from Swindon and Bristol.

Signalling Principles and/or Simsig development/test experience welcomed. Many of our current engineers have come from a SimSig background and We look forward to hearing from anybody who enjoys using Simsig!

Previous experience with playing, testing or development work in SimSig would give a big advantage so please get in touch with me by PM immediately.

Don't be shy. If you don't try you'll never know....

In the longer term would it be feasible for TRE to consider tele-working for roles like this? It would widen your pool of potential contractors and reduce the pressure on your office accommodation.

Tom,

I can't help but feel you're trying to pitch to a lot of people who aren't actually sufficiently qualified/experienced/knowledgeable/appropriate for the job in hand, right?

If that was the case then why would I be doing this?

The point I was trying to get across in the previous post that if there are folk who have gained a knowledge of signalling principles through playing / testing of SimSig then that would stand them in good stead to understand how a signalled layout is supposed to operate which would then translate well into job skills the average person off the street wouldn't have when they walk in the door.

We wouldn't be expecting them to know how to put one of our products together because that kind of training would be given on the job.

Apologies again if this is the impression I've given in the past.

Hope that clears that up.

I would be interested were I not still at uni. If you offer summer internships I'd definitely be interested for next summer, but I'm guessing you don't.

At least two, possibly three IIRC, people who started with SimSig ended up at TRE. Nobody would be qualified off the street but what's the issue if they're willing to learn and have an interest?

They have done exactly this in the past. It's always worth asking.

I'd be very interested in this, as an ex-Signalman, but I live in the wrong country

Wouldn't mind applying but as I don't live nearby, I can't especially if teleworking isn't available.

Be a great job though for someone

I'd be interested... if it was a perm position that was competitive with my current salary. Given I have a young family to support, I don't feel I can risk contracting at the moment.

(my current train to work stops in Bradford anyway!)

Note that the role is in Bradford upon Avon (Wiltshire), not Bradford (Yorkshire)!

Forest Pines shows his location as Bristol so I guess he knows his Bradfords.

I do indeed Peter. I think it's a Gloucester-Westbury service.
