I'm running the April 2012 timetable. In it, 3S91 is sent to Battersea Park platform 2, where it is supposed to reverse and come back down. However, despite the train being ready to depart, the simulated part of Victoria Central is not setting the route. In the mean time, another train passed via platform 1, and even after this the route has still not set. So clearly parts of the route setting are working, just not this one.

Hi Muzer,

It's always been a tricky one because as you say it falls on the boundary between the Eastern and Central sims. Whether there needs to be a sim fix or not is up to Geoff, but as the tt writer I can suggest the following.*

-By the looks of it 3S91 is non ARS - if not then make it non-ARS.
-Collar the signal on platform 1 at Battersea Park.
-Manually set the points for 3S91 to proceed towards Wandsworth Rd
-Check that 3S91 is facing correct direction and then through F2 use authorise to pass red signal (should be available from memory) and this should then proceed as you want (possibly after a "driver phoning my control" call)
- return points to normal and uncollar signal

Hopefully that should work for you - I have noted your issue and will look into it further when I am back round looking at my Vic sims for their updates

Gareth

*I am only able to go on your screenshot as I'm currently on an older loader version while I finish another tt writing project so can't use you save, to check my suggestion will definitely work for you

Geoff is aware of this. Mantis 0012131 and 0012402 refer.

You can get 3S91 to move by abandoning the timetable then when the train moves up to Signal VC561 change the train to run to it's current timetable from Battersea and the ARS will set the route.

Cheers for the advice, I'll give it a try later. As for the questions about ARS, I'm playing with it completely off (I just about managed Victoria Central like this, albeit with mostly delays and just minimal failures, and I'll find out if I can manage this sim...)

Just thought I’d add that I had the same experience with ARS completely off. Are we nuts or what? I ended up doing the same steps as TimTamToe suggested earlier this week as a workaround.

Obviously the same issue for the LO service at Battersea Park in the 2015 timetable…

When I ran your sim without ARS it was a challenge. Victoria Eastern may be in manual, but the Victoria Central side is still using ARS to work with you.

Indeed.

I followed ozrail's advice and it worked, though the TD didn't step properly (and it obviously took for the next train to arrive at Battersea Park to clear it out of the external berth).

If you can manage Central with no ARS, then you should be ok on Eastern (famous last words). Glad the solutions have worked for you

To be honest, Central was probably easier for me because I'm much more familiar with the area and the service pattern. The main difficulty was the level crossing, and trains entering and not making any noise when they do so (which is a bug I've reported somewhere, but I still wonder if there's something that can be done in the loader to fix it in ALL sims, since it seems like a fairly widespread problem). The biggest sticking point for me on South Eastern is that four track section between Shortlands Jn and Swanley Jn, with plenty of conflicting moves and trains moving between the fasts and the slows. I've also made a couple of incorrect regulations at Crofton Road Jn and Herne Hill (though Tulse Hill in Central was just as bad here). So I'd say on balance, at least so far, Victoria South Eastern has a lot more regulation challenges than Central. The points where you had to regulate on Central seemed to me to be much more limited and straightforward to handle. But I'll probably manage, it's still early in the day yet and I'll probably get used to the layout much more.

Yeah like all of them, once you get used to the patterns it becomes easier, and Eastern is "less busy" in terms of total number of trains. I think you have a bit more manoeuvrability on Eastern where you can send via Catford loop or Herne Hill if you have delays etc and the four track can be handy to weave things around to make up time from delays. Key locations I'd say to watch for are Blackfriars, Herne Hill, Shortlands Jcn and occasionally Beckenham Jcn And keeping those pesky South London line trains on time!

I just wanted to highlight that this is still occurring in the 2003-2012 layout of Victoria South Eastern.

Simulation Version: 1.5
Loader Version: 4.5.11
ARS: Off (startup option).
