Hi

I've just reinstalled Shrewsbury onto the C portion of my hard drive as the loader doesn't pick up the sims on the Z Portion (even when placing paths in the folder options.

When I select Shrewsbury I get a message saying "this archive is not a valid zip file" and a 2016 timetable I am trying to use is not there.

I have also reinstalled some other sims that work fine (such as new street

I have re-ran the updater since reinstalling the sims and Shrewsbury is now 1.3

I can't check, being on a phone right now, but I think Shrewsbury was one of those that Windows treats with disdain rather than announcing what it really is - a code signing certificate out of date. Depending on which version of Windows you have, at the "invalid" prompt you should have a button called "more info", "advanced" or something similarly unintuitive. From there it's "run anyway" or "ignore" or similar.

Hi Geoff

The only option I have is 'OK'. From there it runs like normal but doesn't pick up any additional timetables other than the ones originally included

Many Thanks
Mark

I had some difficulty installing the 2016 timetable. This is what I did. I located the directory (after some trouble) for Shrewsbury and the sub directory for the timetables. I downloaded the 2016 timetable and on the prompt I asked for "open file" so I could see the actual 2016 timetable file. I then moved the file manually using the mouse conrol onto the Shrewsbury timetable directory.

Note that Shrewsbury may be stored in a slightly different directory from the normal loaders. This does make a difference. In my case it was : users/myname/documents/SimSig/ so beware of the potential problem here.

Only if you have chosen to put it there, as the developer for Shrewsbury I can assure you that there's nothing special about it going into a different location to the default.

I think I misunderstood you. So you're actually running the sim ok, it's just some user supplied TTs that are the problem?

Ray - Do you mean you copy just the .WTT file. This is what I've always done anyway, and I have the same directory as you

Geoff - Yes the sim is working fine, as is the ability to load a saved game, I just can't see the new timetable

Many thanks
Mark

Yes copy the file onto the directory. Another possible directory is users/public/documents/SimSig/. I have most of my loader sims in that directory and the most recent ones are in users/myname/documents/SimSig.

The developer said that I chose to change the directory. I may have inadvertently caused it to happen by altering the complex saving menu of the loader itself. This was in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the loader loading the same files over and over again during an update. But it was unintentional. My loader continues to save old stuff over and over again but at least it works so I don't want to upset it further.

Sorry you cant find that file but keep looking Nutter. It will be lurking around somewhere. In my opinion this loader thing has never been very successful. Its far too complicated and seems to be prone to confusion when it comes to saving new timetables. Of course it was probably designed to keep tabs on licenses.

I think you are in the minority there, the loader was designed to improve the ability to roll out simulation updates, and core code updates, and it achieves that very well.

Search your entire computer for "Shrewsbury 25th March 2014.WTT" all you need to do is drop the new timetable into the new folder and it will show up in the loader.

I'm sorry that you feel that way, but With thousands of users and very, very few complaints Id suggest that it's very successful. If you leave it alone and let it do things the way it wants to then you should have no issues.

99% of all issues with loader not finding sims/timetables reported on the forum have been where people have installed, or moved files to a different directory than designed. Folder options tab, if used correctly, should remedy it - but should only really be used if you actually know what you are doing.

Nutter.

Can you please identify where on your PC this timetable is, then provide a screenshot of your folder options window from the main loader screen.

The process to get a file from the Downloads section of the web-site is not as automated as the Update process run from within the loader and it needs some manual input from the operator. I'm presuming you downloaded the TT file from the Downloads section of the web-site. If so and unless you manually intervened during the download process, the file will not be in the Shrewsbury folder where the other TTs are resident, it will be in whatever default download location your browser is programmed to use. Typically this could be your desktop or your Downloads folder. You will need to manually move it from there to your Shrewsbury directory. Until it is put into your Shrewsbury directory, the loader will not pick it up.

I presume you are looking for either Shrewsbury Weekday (SSux) 2016 .WTT or Shrewsbury Sunday (SuO) 2016.WTT. Have you used the Windows search function to look for the file. Depending on the version of Windows you are running you may find the search function on the Start Menu or in Windows Explorer or File Explorer. This should also let you find the default download location your browser uses in case you need it for future reference.

Once you have found the TT, then move it as explained above.

Don't get me wrong I tried very hard to love the Loader. It has a few advantages which you have pointed out. Its just the Loader didn't like my computer and its file storage structure !

Hi

Yes I'm trying to get the 2016 weekday timetable in there. I download it into my downloads folder, then open up the compressed file and copy/paste the .wtt to my shrewsbury directory. Its the same method I've used since paged sims and this is the first time it hasn't worked

Many thanks
Mark

There is something not right here. The Shrewsbury Weekday (SSux) 2016 TT downloads to my system as Shrewsbury Weekday (SSux) 2016 .WTT and not a .zip file. The WTT format is a compressed file and can actually be opened with a program like 7-zip so you can see the two .xml files (TimetableHeader.xml and SavedTimetable.xml) but that is not relevant to using the TT in SimSig. The file as downloaded from the SimSig site at https://www.SimSig.co.uk/File/Index/82 should be copied or moved straight into the Shrewsbury folder without any hesitation, repetition or deviation.

Can you post the link from which you are downloading the TT and also confirm the file name that comes down,

Hi Postal

My mistake it was downloading as a .wtt file not a compressed file. I copied over the file in the 2nd linkon the downloads page (rather than the top one) and this one is appearing in the loader. So as long as the archive file thing doesn't effect the sim (it doesn't appear to be) then I'm considering this fixed now I have the 2016 timetable visible

Many thanks for all your help
Mark

I've been having the same problem, but in laymans terms rather than copying the file directly from the download into the Shrewsbury folder I did it via a ZIP file and then copied it from there and worked fine.
