Who/what controls the time shown for a posting? I am in zone GMT+10. However the postings are showning GMT+11 on my computer.

The old forum showed GMT. My feeling is that the forum should retain GMT.

Barry. I have set my location in the user profile menu, and all the forum posts show up as my correct local time. Maybe because the UK is in Daylight Savings Time (ie: GMT+1), the forum has added +1 to everyone's time?

test

EDITED TO ADD;

Just done this test post and it also shows the correct time for me. If you click on the 'Your Details' link on the left there is a drop-down box at the bottom of that page which should allow you to change your time zone - for me it shows as "(UTC 00:00) Western Europe, London, Lisbon, Casablanca, Reykjavik".

Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.

Strange! If London is on DST then Zone Tme for London should show the time as UTC+1 (GMT+1). Am I not correct?

My local time may be UTC+1 due to Daylight Savings Time (which is displayed by the forum), but my timezone is still UTC+/-0 (which is the option I have selected on this forum), as this is a physical location and not dependant on clock changes.

I only wish it was that simple. I'm involved in maintaining a time zone list (the "Olsen" list) and the issues are complicated. There are many different timezones that at present are on UTC in the winter and UTC+1 in the summer. There are are also many different summer time rules. "Time zone" includes those rules.

The best way to say it is that we're in "Europe/London" zone.

England has DST now, so you have to select -1 zone if you want the time without DST.

The posting times shown on the posts whilst logged in are still not correct for Eastern Australia. It is showing GMT+09:00. It should be GMT+10:00. Should this be directed to Joomla?

In Australia the use of DST differs per state / region. If you're in a region that doesn't have DST (that are, as Google says, Northern Territorium, Queensland, and West Australia), you have to set another timezone in the forum, as the forum thinks you're using DST like in England.

I wish they'd just leave it at GMT all year round (in the UK) as then the sun is due south at noon where it should be- unless you live in Penzance!
