Just to say well done to all concerned in creating this version. Know the signalling area very well so didn't have a problem knowing where trains went , apart from Queen St (just had to look up the timetable of the train to ensure I put it in the right platform. However , I've noticed a couple of things with it that didn't seem right. One noticable thing was the turn around times at Grangemouth (Trains from Queen St) in the 1993 edition. The trains sat down the branch for up to 10 minutes. I keep getting the TRTS just after arrival. In got round that by adjusting the layover times. Apart from that , well done to all concerned. It really keeps me occupied (too much ;))

Thanks from all the dev's for your comments.

The layover timings on the Grangemouth branch are intentional. This will allow you to move the train early if you need to for regulating reasons which may arise when I release the 'with freight' version or you have significant delays.
There were some operating compromises in the area for 1993.

And no.... don't ask when !

Thanks for the reply. Yes , I remember the operational headaches had around Falkirk Grahamston back then. Oil Trains coming to and fro , throw in the passenger services , few delays and et voila , chaos. It would be interesting to stick in a derailment. I remember one happening at Grangemouth Junction years ago. Slightly off the topic but well done in the sim. Your reply has sorted things out. Look forward to the version with freight , that'll be interesting.

Firstly, while I have written the 1993 timetable, the 2006 and sim itself are the work of Peter et al.

As you know the area, there used to be a goods loop between Grahamston (Springfield Yard GF) and Grangemouth junction where oil trains were run round. Nowadays everything has to depart west and go via Cumbernauld, Mossend and Carstairs to get back east.

To run the 1993 timetable I have had to compromise and so any reversing trains will just stand on the westbound main line for a few minutes and the go on their way east. Doing a run round on the newer layout is not practical, and going to Larbert and back (which the Linkswood did do when banned on the Tay Bridge) cannot fit in the timings.

Do you recall any details that might solve a loco balancing problem for me surrounding the Dalston oil train (6M34) ?
This seems a simple enough out and back working, but there is also a light engine move from Carlisle to Grangemouth (0M34), so I appear to 'win' a loco every day. Was it double headed south and a single loco back north (6S36) or a more complex balancing arrangement ?

Definately a cracking sim, takes a wee bit of getting used to but once your past that its great, just finished my first full day with it and ended up with 84%, now time to go back and try and master Edinburgh

In regards to bill's question re 6M34 , i think it was double headed from Grangemouth to mossend. Don't know why , i'm sure it was for balancing purposes but it was always confusing as the bishopbriggs oil trains used to be single or double headed!
