From the BBC Teletext service today :- New Railfreight Terminal opened today at the South Liberty Lane Depot at Ashton and will mean 7 trains per week to deliver 8.96m bottles of wine per year. A short section of disused track has been re-instated.

One for the upgraders of Bristol and the TT makers to enable them to introduce a new category of train to SimSig - the alcohol train.

It actually opened a few weeks ago, but hey, why let facts get in the way of a good story!

Forget something off Teletext (lol!), try this link from RailNetwork.info instead.

Its been well served by Freightliner thus far with a daily service in operation, and sometimes an extra service on a Friday night/Sat morning from Felixstowe. Observations I have made suggest that currently more boxes are going into the terminal than are coming out at present. The overnight working from Tilbury or Thamesport is usually well loaded but the returns (either 4O24 or 4L32) are usually somewhat sparse, with 4L32 noted conveying 2 x 20" boxes in the centre of the train on Thursday when it stopped at Reading for a crew change.
