Hello there everyone, I found this site and I love it, it's very adictive. Just a few questions though:
  • If I want to send a messge in Multiplayer do i use the send message button in the multiplayer menu or the F10 button on the keyboard?

  • How are screens assigned to people in the multiplayer games?

  • What is polite/not-polite in multiplayer games

Thanks

Hi there,

Welcome aboard!

Firstly, F10 seems easiest to me for sending messages in m/player.
Secondly, most screens are assigned either first come, first served, or the host will allocate - taking the role of box manager if you like!
Thirdly, common sense! Interfering with anyone else's panel/game space is bad news, other than that, treat unto others how you would want to be treated!
There are various threads that will show you the 'ettiquette' required and many that will also show you what riles people!
Most of all, have fun and throw yourself in to it!

How will a host allocate the screens, or how do you declare that you would like a screen (e.g screen 2)?

Either they will assign as you join, or they will ask you as you join. Quite often panels are swapped around during a game so everyone gets a bash at a busy or prime spot

ok thank you for your help. How is it organised if the sim does not have screens and in one continuous screen that you can scroll like the Newest version of Kings Cross?

If there are paticular rules imposed by a host they should tell you in the notification area. Some are more tollerant than others of player error.

Most screens have panels - shown in green text box and green boundaries.
Have a browse through the scrollys and you'll see what i mean. You just need to be familiar with your panel and entry/exit points

I had a look at the scrooly kings cross that i have installed and the green borders do not seem to match the screenshots on the wiki for kings cross.

1) Questions about specific sims would be better posted in the section of the Forum that specifically refers to the sim; for Kings Cross you can scroll down to the Simulations section of the Forum Home Page and then click straight through to Kings Cross. You can often find answers to problems about a specific sim if you go straight to that sim's pages.

2) The signal map for KX on the Wiki was drawn up from the paged version. If anyone can spare the time to compile a diagram from the scrolly version, please crack on. There are a number of ways you can check whether the diagram is from a scrolly or paged sim. The scrolly normally comes in a file with the page size configured to show the whole diagram on one sheet - this makes it easy to track through the sim from one end to the other but makes printing a bit more difficult. The paged sims come in files with separate pages (surprisingly enough) so that you can print the file off onto normal A4 paper without having to do anything out of the ordinary. On each page of the paged sim files there is also a menu block at the bottom left of the page with various buttons to click. Finally, the paged sims don't have the green lines delineating box areas marked out in the sim (or the inverse of green on the diagrams) because the norm in multiplay on the paged sims is for an operator to take all of a single view (i.e. paged Kings Cross would run with 6 operators, 1 for each of Views 1 to 6).

Hope that helps a bit.
