Having a great time with the new 83 TT I've become more aware that most signals only release to yellow even in situations where it could be green, certainly surpassing Doncaster as the amber palace. Is this are (was it) semaphored or is it generally this restrictive for other reasons?

I'd be very, very surprised if Tinsley Yard was semaphored - was it not one of the "New Yards" built during the 60s? Also, SimSig generally shows semaphores as Red or Green, bar distants - see the Hope Valley line towards Manchester on the Sheffield Sim (VW1), which is semaphored.

I'm not sure myself, but I'd think that due to the fact that there could be many conflicting movements in and out of the yard, as well as sharp curves at either end of the yard and overall low speed limits, that they wanted to keep drivers on their toes.

The through lines at Tinsley Yard were all Red / Yellow aspects as, Danny rightly says, the curvature around the yard and the high number of crossovers at each end being the governing factor for the overall speed limit, I think the idea being that using ambers was a constant reminder about the low speed limit through the yard area.

How is mentioned Tinley area, I want to make a question over Deepcar token control. Has 3 buttons in, out and release. When any train enters to simulation, Release button begins to flash, doing click on that button, changing from in to out.
Problem is that cannot to select track yet to create route, get mistake message. Question is, that special control is automatic or player must to make any thing to select normally the entrance signal to create route for entered train?...

The signals are locked by the token and a route cannot be set until the token has been removed.

In order to set the route for the train you first have to wait for the train to traverse the line with the token and then when it reaches the other end the train will come to a stop and the driver will return the token, at which point you should be able to set the route for the train as normal.

I suspect the reason for this is to prevent the driver receiving a proceed aspect before they've returned the token, which would likely cause havoc for the signaller if they hadn't returned it [the token]. Be warned though, it will take a while for the train to reach the end of the line - whilst testing this myself I noted it took until the clock showed about 00:15 before the token was returned.

A message was received stating that a signal failed in the Tinsley area. The signal was shunt TY423 with a failed filament. Clearing the road, the display showed the signal off, but the driver reported it was unlit. A bug?

I don't think so - IIRC it's been discussed before. Shunt signals aren't fitted with the proving circuitry that standard signals have, and thus will show off on the panel even if they are failed.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.
