Dave, If the line it has failed adjacent to is not bi-directional, and due to the time it takes to set up Pilotman Working, usually they won't bother trying to run wrong road. The quickest/easiest way is to assist the train with the next one. For this, "Assisstance Protection" is laid approx. 300 meters from the train in the direction the assisting train will travel. In this case to the rear, but not always. This protection comprises of 3 detonators placed approx 20 yards from one another. The driver of the failed train will wait there with a red flag, and inform the signaller he is doing/has done this. The signaller can then authorise the assisting train to pass the protecting signal at danger, and proceed to pick up the failed train's driver at the assistance protection. Once there, the failed train's driver will enter the assisting train's cab, and the assisting train will run over the detonators towards the failed train, and then the 2 drivers can sort out trying to shift the failure. JG, I use the URL button (6th from right on top row above this box when replying), minor glitch is it always puts it a start of message so I do it first and then write around it.

Andy / Matt Thanks for the help. It's a good day because I've learnt something new. In regard to the use of the URL button, I don't know whether it is a Firefox / IE issue, but when I use it in Firefox, it is inserting the link where the cursor is in my message and not at the top. I suspect the issue with the URLs originally posted by Postal are to do with the commas immediately after the URL which the forum seems to assume is part of the URL itself. In-fact, having copied the link addresses and editing out the comma both links worked perfectly. I trust this helps. UKTM Thanks for proving that things work. In reality, the commas show when you go to the sites indicated by the links so why you should need to edit them out before pasting, I don't know. I think there are 2 different problems here; firstly, in a copy and paste operation the Forum software inserts escaped characters (like %20 for space) which may confuse things; secondly the Forum software appears to take the huff if a pasted URL carries over to a new line in a posting. Still now that I've been pointed to the URL button (note to self - RTFM), it shouldn't happen again.
