probably the approach control on the diverging route to 641, together with clearing the LX.

I had that problem also just did a SPAD
Arggh...

Signallers do not do SPAD's because they are not sat on a train.

SPAD is a term which is used when referring to a train that has accidentally passed a signal at danger either due to human error or some kind of system failure. When you authorise a train to pass a signal at danger it is deliberate therefore we would not use the term SPAD.

The majority of signallers will refer to it as "talking by".

Anyway, sorry for the rant, couldn't help myself, I hate hearing people on SimSig say they SPAD'd a train.

Back to the thread, nice sim, thanks Geoff

Lol, that's fine.

Probably best not to use the term if you ever get inside a real signalling centre

I like this, the only bug I've encountered so far is all trains once they've departed Brighton for reason lose their headcode - although I think I've narrowed it down to Platforms 3 to 8.

I don't know why but apart from that it's certainly a great sim

I know it's better to be accurate but why did the Southern go with that method then regarding the train headcodes once they leave certain platform berths at Brighton?

all it requires is for the signalman to interpose the next departure at the formost berth. i assume it was for reference of what the previous service was so as to tell what is/was in the platform

I have a small issue, When 5N01 enters from lovers walk down the WCR, the route doesnt clear it self once the train has left the section, leaving me to manual cancel the route afterwards, but because you do it at shunt signal 1279 you recieve a penalty with 30seconds approach locking.

not sure if this is a known issue so i raised it here :)

nice sim by the way bringing back some good memorys.

i have attatched saved game, it happens only a few minutes in

the fact there is no torr on that signal is a known issue, as is the 30 seconds locking, this is authentic to a real location. are u sure there is a points penalty though?

Known problem. The Forum won't allow uploads of .ssg files. It will allow zip files so saved games can always be uploaded by zipping them up first. If you hover the cursor around and about the Add File button you can see a list of allowed file types (or you can on my system, anyway).

i tried a zip failed too. but if its a known bug in the sim i wont need to retry anyway. And as it gives no penalty theres no problem.

It is not a bug. From the user manual: "Signal T1279 (Brighton West Carriage road) must be manually cancelled, whereupon it will then time-out before the route releases.". At the top of the same section it states that these are true to real life unless otherwise indicated.

None of the call on signals are working for me, having to tell trains to pass at danger for platform sharing at Brighton/joining at Haywards Heath, am I doing something wrong?

There are number of strange things at Three Bridges. It's not really a Southern thing, more like a Three Bridges thing.

People who know the chief signalling engineer for the scheme just laugh at the anomalies and blame him.

The Direction of Flow arrows are a case in point (also mentioned on the wiki). I did some panel alterations on the Purley Panel and that involved re-testing the direction of flow arrows. We were scratching our heads for some time thinking we'd got something drastically wrong. It's extremely strange to set a route into a section of line that has an arrow lit in the opposite direction. (as that would normally signify you are route locked and it wouldn't work). After much checking of diagrams and wiring we asked the signalling shift manager if it was like that prior to our work. The reply, "oh yeh, they all do that"

I can't think of any other examples but I know there are a few.

Is a new Category going to be setup in Timetables? I found a run that may need adjustment.

The post by you? Sorry I thought you were just referring to one specific train not calling on rather than it being a general fault.

Nice simulation. Here is a link to a training video showing a journey from Brighton Pt 3 to Hove Pl 1 and back.
