Scunthorpe F.D. is the name given to Scunthorpe Coal Terminal where the MGR trains from Immingham Coal Import Terminal dis-charge. On the 1980s mode screen Scunthorpe F.D. is where it says 'British Steel Coal Handling Plant'. To the left of Scunthorpe Trent Junction as you lookat the screen.

signal SE38 currently suffers from a bug which will always cause a train routed to it to display wrong route. it is a shunt signal located to the bottom right of trent TC

I am sorry to say Scunthorpe FD is not the Coal handling plant (sorry Pascal!). It is, in fact short Scunthorpe Freight Depot which in turn is actually now called the Scunthorpe Goods Yard and is shown on the screen as "Goods Yard". The exit signals for it are S30(up), S37(down) and S53 (down) are the exit signals. Currently, coal trains from Immingham run around here so they can enter the Coal Handling plant.

S38 is a shunt signal. S38 reverse is a reversing a location at that shunt signal. As JC92 points out, there is a bug in the released version that some trains call wrong route for S38 even when its correct.

More information on locations at Scunthorpe can be found in the manual which is part of the SimSig wiki.

I stand corrected there Chris you are right. Was remembering the TRUST schedules for the MGR trains used to run to Scunthorpe FD from Immingham Bulk Terminal.

Look forward to the next release there Chris. Has the 1980s layout also been altered?
